Need rent help in Sacramento before I am evicted
My name is Rebecca, and I am reaching out with a sincere and urgent plea for rental assistance. I have received a notice of eviction, and I am terrified of what may come next—not just for myself, but for my 5-year-old daughter who depends on me for safety, stability, and care. I love what you do for the homeless community!
I am a survivor of domestic violence, and it has taken me a long and painful journey to get to where I am today. Escaping that situation was not easy, and I’ve worked extremely hard to rebuild a life that is safe and secure for me and my child. Being evicted now would not only undo all the progress I’ve made, but it could potentially force us back into unsafe circumstances that I have fought so hard to leave behind. I simply cannot allow that to happen. I have until October 29th to make my payment before going into the next month.
We currently reside in Folsom, California (Sacramento County), and I have lived in our current apartment for the past two years. Throughout that time, I have done everything in my power to maintain stability and keep a roof over my daughter’s head. I have always prioritized paying our rent, even when it meant cutting back on essentials or dipping into my small savings.
Unfortunately, my health has recently taken a severe toll on my ability to work consistently. I’ve been battling recurring kidney infections and suffering from ongoing dental problems that cause me intense pain and constant headaches. These health challenges have forced me to take time off from work, and as a result, I have fallen behind financially. Despite my best efforts, I simply do not have enough to cover this month’s rent.
I have reached out to every local resource I could find in Sacramento County—nonprofits, churches, emergency assistance programs—and so far, I have not had any success. I am feeling desperate and defeated, but I am still holding on to hope that someone will be able to help.
I am not just asking for myself, I am asking on behalf of my daughter, who deserves the chance to grow up in a safe and stable environment. She has already been through too much in her short life, and I want more than anything to protect her from further trauma.
After exhausting nearly every local resource in Sacramento County, I have not been able to find the help I desperately need. I’ve reached out to numerous organizations, and unfortunately, I’ve been met with either long waitlists, closed programs, or simply no response. It has been disheartening to feel that many of the entities meant to support our community are not accessible to those of us who are struggling the most.
At the advice of my therapist, I am now stepping outside of Sacramento County to seek assistance. I was encouraged to reach out to other cities, counties, or organizations that may be more responsive or have more available resources. I’ve realized that asking for help is not a sign of weakness, and I am willing to explore every possible avenue to keep a roof over my daughter’s head.
I know many organizations are overwhelmed with requests, and I understand resources are limited. But if there is anything you can do to help us avoid eviction—whether it be partial assistance, a referral to another program, or simply guidance on what to do next—I would be deeply grateful. Even a small amount of support could make a world of difference right now.
Please let me know if there are any documents or forms you need from me to begin the process. I am more than willing to provide my eviction notice, proof of income, medical documents, or anything else required.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and consider my situation. I truly appreciate your compassion and any help you can offer during this very difficult time.
Sincerely,
Rebecca Smalley

Re: Sacramento rental assistance needed for my apartment
I am currently in Sacramento California.
I have no car, no income, no ID, and the lack of support is make me feel like I can’t do this any more. I have tried homeless shelters for rent help but my compound PTSD makes it very difficult for me to exist in that kind of living environment. I’m very sensitive and very vulnerable. I think I came to the wrong state for sure.

Re: Sacramento rental assistance needed for my apartment
For Sacramento, CA
I'm 62 years old. I was injured on my job and physically can't do that job anymore.
I can't pay my bills or next month's rent.
I'm out of work due to job injury, but they denied my temporary disability.
I have no income to pay my rent They tell me I don't qualify for temporary disability or unemployment.
In the one that worked super hard and paid into the system to support people who WON'T work, but now that I need some help I don't qualify?!!
PLEASE HELP ME! My credit cards are maxed out now, so now I can't pay next month's rent, or this & last month's SMUD, or my insurance and truck payment, or my upcoming phone bill.
I will be evicted by the 3rd of July, I'll lose my truck in one month, & I'll lose my phone and auto insurance on June 22.

Re: Sacramento rental assistance needed for my apartment
Hi Michael
If you just moved to Sacramento, then your options may be limited. As most programs that help people pay their rent want long term stability, around residency, employment and more. But you can try to apply for help, and we have information here for rent relief in Sacramento.

Sacramento rental assistance needed for my apartment
To whom it may concern,
Hello my name is Michael. I need help with keeping my apartment rent paid. I have recently moved up to Sacramento California. i used all my resources to move here for a new job and all was well until I fell. I got hurt, missed work and was hospitalized and found out I had Kidney disease and due to complications and the disease i have been unable to work for almost two months. So I am behind on my rent. I have filed for SDI but i don’t think it will come in time to keep me in my apartment in downtown Sacramento. I am scheduled to return to work on May 30th so I will have income once more but I need help in the meantime. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
