My daughter is disabled per the American with Disability Act. She needs help keeping her house up. She is on Medicare and Medicaid. She needs someone who can help her get rid of too much “stuff” and then help her with basic tasks such as vacuuming and dusting and cleaning bathrooms. And someone mows the grass. She has been in this house for two years and it is full of clutter. I think she gets overwhelmed and then does nothing because she doesn’t know how to even start. She really needs help.

I don’t want to get the power of attorney that the American with Disability Act allows me to and move her to a group home somewhere. She can live on her own with supervision or someone coming in once or twice per week to help her keep things under control. I’d like to get a person who can clear out the junk and donate it to whoever needs it. Then someone who can keep things up with her. I think she would do well with very little “stuff”. Get rid of clothing that doesn’t fit. Things that are broken. Things she does not need. She doesn’t need tons of pots and pans and dishes. If she only had a 4-piece place setting there would not be so much clutter and then maybe she could function better. If you could contact me with an agency in NC that could help her out, it would be appreciated. I’m afraid her home will be condemned due to clutter if there is not agency to help her get it cleared out. I think she should only have what she needs, not all the extra stuff.
Hi Kellie,
You sound like a worker! 2005 and then sadly hurt at work. Did the employer terminate you for unlawful reasons? We are going to send you a couple resources, and since you did not put your area, use this for a list of local assistance programs by county.
The ADA / government also has a website / guide for Legal Rights, so see if any of these applies to you, your situation and that termination. https://www.ada.gov/resources/disability-rights-guide/

I have been working since 2005, I am now unemployed & have 2 children. Prior to being fired from my full time job, I was on FMLA for my disabilities that were in accordance to ADA, But was already for the last few years having difficulty working & this past year I even upped my STD & LTD benefits back in October for this year.
I felt that I may need to start that process but was terminated from my place of employment on 3/21/25. I can't go back to work due to no health insurance, my health, & now a new issues that has risen with my health that will affect me if I did try to look for a new job. I live in at will state & I don't think any employer would Hire me with my health. I can sue with American Disability Act but it will take time & now only having the use of one hand. I don't know what to do & may need help. Thank you Kellie
