Use, SNAP food stamps barely pays for anything - no matter where you live. Not to mention pricey Alexandria. Did you try a food pantry? As maybe that will help and here is a list of food pantries in the Alexandra VA area.

My name is Jacqueline and I’m writing to you in the hope that you can help me. In 2023 I was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time. This time the cancer was more aggressive and now I’m unable to use my right hand and arm. I live on a fixed income (Social security retirement) in Alexandria Virginia a beautiful but very expensive city. Every month I run out of money and food. I visited the local social services office and they gave me $55.00 per month in food stamps. While I am very appreciative for that help it only lasts for one trip to the grocery store.
