As we tell everyone, car repair help is very rare. There is a Family Promise in Modesto, and look there for repair programs from that charity.

Another place to try will be the local community action agency. Sometimes they have grants or information on transportation programs, including possible repairs or smog test stuff. Find Stanislaus County community action services.

Hi I live in Stanislaus County here in Modesto, CA. I need to borrow $500 for my 2008 GTI VW to get the tags paid, smog test, and brake and light inspection and repairs if it doesn't pass smog or the other inspection. I am 66 years old and I am a Caretaker with IHSS, I can't work because of my car not being legal please help me get back on the road and keep working so I can pay my bills and my rent and still have my car.
