I've had open heart surgery and I'm disabled vet. I am using a wheelchair often now because of my muscular dystrophy and I really need my car in order to go back and forth to the doctors and pharmacy and everything.
I had the car looked at and they said it was dangerous to drive because the tires were apparently cracking apart on the inside where you're unable to see it at and I managed to get the tires paid for and replaced and the belts but they are recommending a few other repairs that I just can't come up with the money for and without my truck I can't get my medications and my life will be in danger if I can't get back and forth to my cardiologist office in Alabama from Florida. I need my truck for that and to get my medications and I really need them especially my blood thinning medication because I have a mechanical On-X Prosthetic heart valve in my heart and it requires the blood thinners so I don't get a blood clot and die or have a stroke.
I'm also on a lot of blood pressure medications because of heart failure and I'm really at a loss as to where to get some help and a social worker that I talked to recommended that I get ahold of you to see about getting a grant for veterans or help or something so I can get the car taken care of because there's no public transportation that would or could even take me to the doctors. Anyway because it's a 5 hour ride from Reddick Florida to Auburn Alabama then back and I am really hoping that you might be able to help me or steer me in the right direction to get the truck fixed?
I'm also hard of hearing and I'm unable to use the phone to make calls which is why I'm emailing you instead of calling. I hope you might be able to help me because my doctor is saying that I have to come in for a visit before they will call any more medications in to the pharmacy. Could you please reply by email? Thank you and have a great week! By the way the car only needs the brake pads done and the collapsed engine mounts and I have a quote for them already.

Grants to pay for a new truck, or the repairs to one, are rare. But maybe you can find one since you are a veteran. Who knows...it may be worth a shot for you. Look for them here, at Georgia disability programs.

Hello, My name is Natasha I am disabled military vet in need of some financial assistance for my truck and to repair it.  My leasing contract is about end in August.  Found a place but being that my credit is rebuilding I have to pay a higher amount for deposit.  I am reaching out hoping someone will be able to help with a grant to pay for the truck.  That would be so grateful.  I currently live in Kennesaw GA.  Thank you

Hi,
Car repair programs are rare. Maybe try a community action agency for referrals, or maybe they have a program for you.

Another option may be Volunteers of America, as they often help veterans. We would assume you have also checked into the other agencies that may help veterans, such as American Legion, VA hospitals, etc?

Disabled Vet need Truck Repair

Post by HBW66 »

I am a 66 year old Disabled Vet on Kidney Dialysis. I took my truck in for inspection and it fail, because it had a miss fire n the engine. I took to the mechanic shop and he told me my truck need a valve job and it would cost $1000 to $1200 to have it done. I do not have that kind fund to have it fix. I need truck to go to Dialysis, VA Hospital, and to help other people. My tags run out the end of August and I can not get tags for my truck until it pass inspection. I also need new ties and a front end alignment then my truck will be safe operating order. The total amount I need is $2000. The valve job is the most important I need to get by for now.
