Hi Sherri,
We read through your message. Quite frankly you seem to have a lot of "Wants" as far as quality of life but no ability to pay for it or contribute. As you are talking about "stuff like novelty shops" and theatres but you have no income, don't work, etc. with no job or contribution to society. You may want to reflect on this. Either way, there are programs for financial help you can try in Springfield Missouri. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... rogr2.html

Help with bills needed in Springfield MO

Post by Elephant »

Good day to you!
I'm a 55-year-old woman with several disabilities; I'm on Medicaid, Medicare and Blue Cross Anthem. I'm in a bad living situation in Springfield Missouri and I really need help with all my bills.
Currently, I live in rural Springfield with my two cats and dog, who are my ONLY emotional support - I guess my "therapy animals". I was invited here by a former chum (she was never an actual friend; we hung out with different people) who has known me since kindergarten. It was my understanding that we were going to take care of one another and pay all the bills together too.
I'd keep an eye on her because she has odd fainting spells that the doctors can't diagnose/figure out; and she'd keep an eye on me because I stumble and fall a lot. I was leery of the arrangement, but the rent is obscenely cheap - and includes utilities. AND she was cool with my pets - so I accepted. Unfortunately, I hated it almost immediately. It was too cold. My poor dog couldn't take it - I had to take her to the vet and discover that she has arthritis in her ankles. I also found out that there is virtually *nothing" here to do; no fast food places. No museums. No bookstores, game stores, or novelty shops. No THEATERS! There is such a paucity of culture for normal people to utilize & things to do and see here that it's crazy. And it's a mountain town, so everything is horribly spread out. For me to go to Walmart from where I live costs me about $45! Sure, the scenery is beautiful in the Spring & Summer. Haven't seen the Fall yet, but Winter is horrid - looks like a plague zone. Grey. Dead. Cold. Barren.
Anyway, after a very minor incident (I had just gotten out of the hospital after a kidney was removed the day before); I hadn't eaten anything all day so I put a casserole into my oven & sat down in the living room. Next thing I know, I heard a snapping & popping: There was a fire in the oven, which I quickly squelched.
After that incident, my roommate/landlady decided to move into a smaller place so that she can afford homeowners insurance. I now have to be out of my apartment by the end of August.
I am disabled. I don't have a vehicle. I have no friends or family nearby. I'm completely broke. I'm really teetering on the edge, here - I intend on moving to downtown Springfield, Missouri, since I have doctors there; where there are more than two supermarkets; and there are other cultural events and places to enjoy. Unfortunately, I have no money to pay for any of it. My disability is only $1000 a month. I haven't yet been approved for Food Stamps. So I have to buy groceries, pay utilities, pay for meds, buy pet food, pay vet visits, pay for incidentals like computer paper and ink, etc.
Just for the move I'll have to rent a truck, hire 2-3 people to help me, probably rent a couple of dollies, maybe some packing blankets (my TV was broken when I moved here because my ex husband packed it FLAT on top of a recliner), and it's still sitting in my bedroom). I also have to pay rent, deposits, "activity fees" (whatever THOSE are I've never heard of nor paid for them before)' "admin fees", and whatever other padding scumlords put in their contracts these days. Would you, please, help me here? I really need some help. I'm more than willing to take whatever financial planning classes you require. I need to get out of this dead city, where there is nothing to do. I need to to be near actual transportation so that I can get OUT and ABOUT instead of sitting here, staring at the walls.
Can you, please, help me? (There could be freshly-baked cookies in it for you...*wink*)
Sincerely,
Sherri
