Hi my name is Robin. I live in Indianapolis Indiana Marion county. I need help with rent as I can’t afford the place I live, or get me a free housing from HUD. I'm in a hotel right now. We lost our home with an eviction and The house we lived in had mowed and my daughter had a asthma attack that went into an aspiration. She stopped breathing and they had to put her own life support and they messed her throat up and nothing happened to them. Now we have no money and can’t afford housing so we need a free or low cost home in Marion County or somewhere close by in Indiana.

Hi,
You may mean section 8? If so, the rent amount due will be based on your income. So there is some cost. But if you have zero income, that is where it gets a little more complicated as maybe the housing in Indiana will be "free" in those cases, but no guarantees. And of course there is generally a wait list. But look here for the Indiana rent and housing programs. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... using.html

How does free housing work in Indiana?

Post by Elowen »

Hi, I was reading the needhelppayingbills.com website and I had some questions. I'm being evicted for personal family reasons (non-financial) and I need a free place to stay in Indiana until I can get back on my feet. I do not have a car or a job. I don't even have a diploma or GED. So I was wondering how the free housing works. Would I need to have a job before-hand? A car? Will I need to go back to school? Is there a "catch" to it all (will I have to pay for the housing eventually)? Those kinds of things, but first I need a free place to sleep and give me housing but not a shelter. I live in Northwest Indiana. Thank you.
