Re: Benefits from government and public sources
Hi, my name is Jacquelyn. I have three sons. Two of my boys have autism and we get some medical benefits from our state. My family has been going through a lot lately. My oldest son with autism is frequently very violent. In the past year, we had to bring our two-year-old to the hospital twice due to injuries caused by my oldest son. He almost broke his hand, and he just recently gave him a concussion.
I'm always with my children but I can turn my back for one second and something can happen. I'm trying to seek help for him, whether from public assistance, a charity or the government, while also taking care of my other two boys. It's difficult to provide all the attention they need with just me around. We have a multitude of medical bills for having to take my youngest to the hospital. I am also struggling because I had a tiny car, and the boys couldn't all fit comfortably. They fought while I was driving, causing it unsafe for me to have them all in the car at once.
We currently live in a 2-bedroom apartment. My three boys share a room. They constantly fight resulting in the little one often getting hurt. Our neighbors are complaining about us, and we feel uncomfortable living here. It's difficult for others to understand the severity of my son's autism. This is very hard for us. We are going through a lot of therapies and appointments to help my sons as much as we possibly can. The therapists are far from where we live so we are driving a lot. My husband’s job isn't making enough for us to be able to move out. And he is usually gone due to work. We live in a vacation town so his job will be slowing down soon to where we can't afford to live. I cannot get a job due to all the appointments for the kids and no one will watch the kids since they have autism.
I'm really desperate for help.
We would love to move out, maybe to government housing using section 8 benefits. We do not have this stress we have on top of everything else.
I'm not sure where to get help for that.
Please let me know of anywhere we can get help. I really appreciate you taking the time to read this.

Were her benefits "cut" or reduced? Or does she just need more? As a 2 BR with 4 kids does not sound sustainable over the long term, so it seems she needs more housing too. Look here for options when social security benefits are cut.

Re: Benefits from government and public sources
Good morning. I am reaching out on behalf of my daughter. She is living in a 2 bedroom apartment with her four children and she gets government benefits now but needs more public assistance. She has kids Ages 12, 10,8 and 5. The rent is $1075 and her efforts to find something more affordable for the past year has been in vain. She is struggling to pay it.
She has worked at Walgreens since August of 2022 and receives food stamps benefits and Medicaid from the government for the children. She receives some child support but as you can imagine it has been hard making ends meet. I help her as much as I can but I’m the only one working as my husband is on a fixed income. I forwarded the latest email from the landlord. He told me that the owner of the apartments where she’s living won’t hesitate to start the eviction process once the deferred payment and the benefits from the government is over and rent is late. They did the deferred program for the tenants because of the mill shutting down here in town. Any help would be most appreciated.

Re: Public assistance
Hello, my name is Amber. I'm a single mother of 5 beautiful little girls.. I'm a place in my life with no help no family no support and my arms tied. I can’t seem to fight to get ahead of so hard and am finally turning to public assistance.
I don’t want to give up not when I have my daughters that need me so much because they don’t have family that will take them if something happens to be.. I am homeless with all 5. All I want so bad is to get them a home to have and be able to do right for them.
I want them to get a diploma a degree do something great.. I want them.to be the best hemitheid can be.. every mother sh6want that for their kids and mean it.
I know I do.. at this point in my life I just don’t know where to begin get get public aid for my girls. I can’t get my girls in day care because I don’t have an address. I almost couldn't get them in school because of not having an address. I had to have someone say they have custody of them to even do so.
I have so much I want to do for them and myself but with us not having a stable place I can’t get nothing done.
And the biggest thing is that I have to have a surgery done asap, I had my gallbladder taken out and I've had problems ever since.. a year ago, they put a stent in my duct and it was supposed to be taken out 4 to 6weeks after they put it and it's been a year now. The doctor called me and told me if o don’t get it done that I'd couldn't die. I'm already having pain where it's at. I really need to have it done before something bad happens But I don’t have a home nor a home and need public assistance and housing. Or my girls to go home to. Nor do I have someone that will take my girls.. aim reaching out to see if I can get any help support even advice. Please contact me back and let me know if you can lead me in the right place or even help.
Thanks, and have a blessed day
Amber

Re: Government financial assistance
I have been on the phone and internet for days trying to find someone who might be able to help my family or point me in the right direction to get government aid, not a single person has emailed me back, nor called me. I am pregnant and have been unable to work due to ongoing sickness....my husband has a job but with my loss of income we have been struggling to keep up at all. Paying bills and rent late, not being able to afford gas money for our truck, and now the fact that school is starting September 3rd I am unable to get my kids school supplies and clothing. My electric is going to be shut off and I feel like a failure as a mother. I hate that I need help from government assistance, but I am also not too proud to admit it. I don't live a fabulous life and have all the extras not necessary then expect a handout at all. I am doing the best I can living check to check, trying to raise my kids with the best means I have, but I can't send them to school with no supplies and I cannot have them living without Power. If someone could call me or email me with some kind of response to how to get government financial assistance I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much!!

Re: Benefits from government and public sources
My mother is a 91 year old who's only source of income is social security benefits $1700. Out of that amount, she pays a plethora of bills. She really needs public assistance with paying her bills. I am looking for some financial assistance that can help with paying her bills. She pays county and city taxes, utilities, household expenses, medication, food, mortgage, property maintenance cost, phone, transportation, and other essential items. You can call her, that is her home number. She was born 8/30/1925.

There is support from the state. But also took to a lawyer for help with an appeal. As far as for now, try public assistance in Mississippi. They may be able to help you and your family get the support they need.

We are on government benefits including cash assistance and receive food stamps. The cash we receive monthly does not cover rent and utilities. Please let me know of any type of assistance you could offer or lead us to.

Re: Government assistance
if you are living with students, can they get some financial aid from college and/or loans for the home in West Bend Wisconsin? Good that you found a place to live, but try these Wisconsin public assistance programs for the income criteria, applications to cash aid, and other support.

Re: Government assistance
I have some questions about assistance from the government.
Here is some more information about me.
I am a full time student at UWWC, and in July of 2015 I am going to have to live on my own.
I found a place for rent in West bend that will lease me the apartment.
I plan on living there with two other people.
My estimated income for 2014 will be $15,000.
The other two people also attend school full time and earn about $5,000 each.
I was wondering where I could go to apply for aid with rent and/or food stamps.
Any help in direction will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Government assistance
I'm needing help paying my rent and other bills from the government. I'm not able to work due to being pregnant and on leave. My fiancé was working but got laid off due to miscommunication through a temp agency, he is looking for another job. But we are late on our rent for this month and looking towards eviction as well as power being cut off. Also will need help from the government for next month. By then we should have the means to pay. We have 3 children that are in DCS custody that we are trying to get back, but have a son due June 16th of this year.

Re: Government assistance
Our rent is $1,700. I am part of a household of 6. There are 3 working adults and 3 children. When everything goes well we still don't have enough to cover the rent, electricity, etc. We have managed, but our hours are getting cut from work and the help we were receiving from government assistance was reduced, so we are really in a bind right now. We have rent, electricity, water, etc., that are all coming up on top of each other. Rent and electricity are obviously the most important, so if we could get help with that, it would be so appreciated.

Re: Government assistance
Well not sure if the government aid will help you in this case. But you can try. But you need to have a very low income to apply/get help, and maybe you do not hit that threshold. Maybe your wife can apply for disability after her surgery too. Anyway here are the government assistance programs to try. Or try a homeless prevention program too which may help you during that court filing.

Re: Benefits from government and public sources
Did you try the disability benefit yet? You do not need health insurance for that...it is a safety new program. While it may take many months to apply, once you are approved that money can help you with your rent and other bills. It is intended to assist people with heart conditions and the like. We have instructions on steps for applying for disability, as well as different agencies that may assist you in the process. Even if you have a job, you can still apply.

Re: Public assistance
We are sorry to hear about your dad, but the public assistance programs in Arizona may be able to help you. There may be some help in burying him, or maybe cash assistance can be used by you during the short term as well. But your brother does need to get back into the workforce and get another job. Some of the public aid may even pay for mental counseling too. Find details on services in Arizona. http://www.needhelppayingbills.com/html ... izona.html

I am a woman who is recently diagnosed with a heart problem and possible autoimmune problem at the age of 52. I have no family-no support system. I do not even have health insurance or any other government benefis. I live alone and I am terrified I am going to be homeless. I have a temporary job, but have not been able to work all this week. I have 2 choices -work FT- and get no medical care or go to register in a clinic which is an all day/all week affair, so it is nearly impossible to hold down a daytime job while you are going to clinics.
I am living paycheck to paycheck, and the loss of just this week has now put me in a position I cannot pay the electric and money towards October rent. Unfortunately I fall between the cracks to get immediate assistance from any government agency. I am not on disability and do not have any dependents. Not to mention that disability takes a long time to get on and it wouldn't be enough to cover my bills.
I am asking for help with 1 to 2 months rent and food and hopefully electric so I can prevent myself from being homeless and continue seeking the medical care I really need and get the tests and complete work up and care I desperately need, and then go back to work.
I'm so scared of my health issue and now I also have the added stress I will become homeless. I need government or public insurance and financial aid too. I have all my medical records to show this is true. Times like these usually a family member would be there but I lost everyone to heart disease or cancer. Thank you for reading.

Re: Public assistance
Last November my family, who lives in Arizona, was sent into a whirlwind of pain, sadness and despair after my Dad shot himself in a suicide attempt. (On top of his most likely being bi-polar, but to full of pride to seek help, my Mom said she was leaving him due to years of mental, physical and emotional abuse). While he survived, he is not well & staying in a halfway house facing many health issues and trauma due to his injuries. My Mom was left homeless & in a deep state of depression and applied for public assistance. She has been staying with my brother who lost his job after all this happened, leaving him in a terrible place financially, mentally and physically.
They have a house full of stuff, 22 years’ worth, in 2 storage spaces which they cannot afford any longer. These spaces hold everything they own. I'm so worried they will lose it all. This, among other financial issues, such as paying rent or buying food are also a concern. They need to move by the end of October and need to hire movers as both my Mom & Brother are not physically well enough to do so on their own. My brother's car is barely drivable any longer & the gas mileage it gets is terrible!
I don't know what else to do to help. I created a gofundme and was able to raise some cash to help them out, but it just wasn't enough. Even the public aid she gets does not pay all their bills. I just want my Mom and Brother safe & to be able to feel secure & happy. It's been so long since they have had that.
I know many of us face financial hardships daily. But still, I’m asking for any help.
I need to try anything at this point.
Thanks for reading.

Re: Government financial assistance
Sherman is a small town, but there are many public assistance programs that cover all of Texas. But you will need to continue to fight, as that is the only solution to poverty. Also, many places (such as the Salvation Army) do have limited resources like you said. But look into government aid, as that was created to help the indigent. Find more details on public benefits in Texas as well as the specifics of each service.

Re: Public assistance
Have 2 kids, boy and girl (5 & 6 years old). I'm behind on bills (electric, rent, car payment, cell phones). We have no money for Christmas which breaks my heart so I'm looking to try and get some public assistance with anything I mentioned or listed above.
I'm barely making it by but always behind my electric will be shut off soon and with it being winter and having 2 little kids scares me. My rent is late and don't have the money for it I have no idea how I will be able to get my kids anything for Christmas.
The car I do have I'm behind 2 months. I work 9-10 hr. shifts but daycare is starting to be an issue so with my husband having medical issues until after surgery as he failed certain tests etc.. He is a stay at home dad which helps in big way as saves me a lot of money for daycare but one car.
He takes kids to school, but we are in deep and feels like I can't get ahead. I work so hard and just can't catch a break. I pray and pray and hope to god I find a way some kind of help.
My husband held same job down for 10 years and he worked since he was 15. He's now 26 and he tries. He applies everywhere but he is limited to jobs because the town we live in so small.
I'm writing you asking for any kind of help. I never thought life would be this rough and I have a great job but even with that still so hard. I suffer from seizures and I have one about have one every night cause I'm under so much stress.
My husband is a big help and as much as he wants to go back to work he can't and a plus he saves me a lot of money. I do not have to to pay for daycare and makes sure kids get to school. He makes sure meals are ready when we have food to cook but at least I thank god food is one thing my husband gets and makes.
Sure we have for kids and myself to eat. I don't know if there is rock bottom but to top all this off about 4 days ago I got news that after 1st of year (2016) there will be 275 laid off employees. I unfortunately am one of them. This is devastating news but for sake of our kids me and my husband try and stay positive and make sure they still are kids and have a good childhood.
I'm just asking for help from the government. A lift would be great in assistance in UTILITIES such as electric, water bills 238.00(electric), $51.00(water)
We owe RENT $600.00 (3 weeks behind). We need HOLIDAY HELP and that can be Anything for Christmas. We owe a CAR NOTE $150/month and are 2 months behind. It is our only car and don't work to good.
We owe PHONE BILL $176/month which is 2 months late. CAR ASSISTANCE is behind, and we would like and Need a reliable working car or would like to get my current car fixed.
I have no idea if I said to much but we got more bills on top of that but don't want to ask for too much. I know & understand other families need help as well In which I will pray for my family as well as others that are in need of help with bills and holidays like Christmas where no kid should wake up on that day and not have no gifts. I pray and hope y'all are able to help me & my family in any way possible. It would be a miracle and very much appreciated. Thank you & God bless.
