My sister resides in North port, Florida and her power is off, so it is an emergency due to the heat. She and her husband have been married for 10 years or more. He has been traveling back and forth to Ohio where he is working and she has been living in their house watching his daughter until a few months ago. At that time the daughter moved out because her dad got her an apartment. About a month ago he came down from Missouri and cleaned the house out.
They took everything out and left my sister with nothing, not even a bed to sleep on. Well last week he had the power shut off. My sister is on disability and there are days she is unable to get out of bed. She’s been trying to find an attorney to help her file for a divorce on the grounds of abandonment, but can't afford the chunk of money they want just to take the case. She is staying in the house with no power, my concern is her having a heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
It’s about a 110 degrees in the house and the light company won't turn the lights back on without getting a 600 deposit. She is on a fixed income and doesn't have money like that for her electric. I have wrote to many people and got no response from anybody all I need to know is where can she get help to have the Power on or move somewhere else. She is sleeping on a blow up mattress that one of the neighbors bought for her. Her husband is in Ohio living quite fine. He makes about 3000 to 4000 a week. There doesn't seem to be any place that wants to help her deal with these emergency electric situation. If there is ANY program that you know of that would help her could you please let me know. Did you call you utility provider in Louisiana and tell them about your hardship? Maybe they will offer you a payment plan or another option. There may also be specific resources, such as LIHEAP or cash grants, for people with a disability in Louisiana. But if you really owe $100 in one day, you may be out of time. Good afternoon,
I need to inquire about assistance paying my electric bill. Before I recently moved, the apartment I was living at, had a horrible insulation, and AC problem. My bill skyrocketed from an average of 120.00 per month to 300.00 per month during the summer. I have been trying to chip away at it little by little since we moved. The whole reason for moving was to find a more energy efficient apartment. Ever since October of last year, I have been paying on it and paying on it, but I received a letter today, saying if I don’t pay the 274.00 that's late, by the 17th of October, they would disconnect my power.
Any help what so ever would be extremely appreciated. What can I do? I have attached a scanned copy of the letter I received today.

There are some emergency LIHEAP (Low-Income Home Energy Assistance) programs in Florida. Ask for the crisis service too at a local community action agency. While they won't help with water, they may have financial aid for the electric bills you have. it can also be used to prevent a disconnect of your service. Read Florida LIHEAP electric bill help.

Have you tried calling Nicor for any other payment plans? Or did they say no since they already gave you one deal. There are other solutions in Illinois from Nicor, state options like LIHEAP and more. I am on SSI and have a electric bill from 12/2/2013 that my utilities will be shut off ten days from the said date. Embarrassed as I am that I need assistance for electric and rent bill. Tacoma Public Utilities is my provider. I had signed up for the discount program from TPU which wont apply until the bill is back at zero. I have never asked for help before and would be greatly appreciated if I receive help, bill being 123.00. For rent I am behind 275.00 out of the 595.00 rent that was owed. I am disabled and really can't afford being homeless with my health conditions.

I need help with my electric bill in Texas. I am on a fixed income of 341.00 a week and I have a roommate which is also out of work on short term disability until September. He has been paying rent and I have been taking care of the utilities. Well he just finally got his first check of 123.00,so needless to say, rent hasn't been paid and I am way behind on the electric bill. I'm looking for possible help to pay my electric bill. The company I was working for shut down and I have been trying to find work. Things have been going from bad to worse lately and as hard as I'm trying I can't seem to get it straightened out. I have to do something but every time I try the internet I get re routed or can't find an application. Hello. I am praying you can help me or lead me to someone that can. I've been trying with no avail to get emergency help with paying my water bill. I'm not asking for someone to pay the whole thing, just some help. I've been trying to contact the LIPP program or H20 help to others programs. I have tried to speak to supervisors and others at my water company and they will not budge. Even if I paid half of the bill, they won't budge and are very adamant. My bill has fallen behind due to a lot of financial emergencies that have come up, including health issues for myself, that resulted in a cervical cone biopsy on Monday. I can explain in detail all that has led to this position my family is in. I am praying and begging for help. Please contact me as soon as you are able. I have been emailing and calling any agency that I have found through research and referrals and will continue to keep trying with the ones who I have not gotten a response from yet and continue to research for any other places that I may be able to find. My ex husband left the country without leaving the promised funds to pay the bills he is required to pay. I still have a minor child at home, and our electricity will be shut off Monday. I need help with my electric bill. I have a permanent P.F.A. on my husband and he has contacted Penelec to shut off my electric since it was in his name. However, I have very bad credit and they are requiring a $300 which I do not have any money at all. I am unable to sell any marital property due to a court order, and do not have any other resources like family to borrow from because I am an only child and my parents are deceased. I only have 10 days before my electric gets shut off. There is also a past due balance of $935 that needs to be paid and they said that I am held responsible for it since I am "benefiting" from their service. But this past due balance occurred while my husband had been still living in the home. Is there anything that can help me with this balance? I did apply online for energy assistance with COMPASS on 3/13/13. I'd appreciate any info I can get please.

I need assistance paying my utilities. I am disabled and only my husband works. I have been without gas for 3 months. I was denied twice by LIHEAP because my son worked one month and lost his job. I made a deal to pay 1/3 of the Nicor bill to get reconnected. I had to borrow the money. My electric is due to be shut off any day. I put 60 dollars down, all I had hoping I could make payment arrangements but they denied that request. I don’t know where else to look. Thank you.

I am needing help with my electric bill. I have 3 children and their dad is on social security so we are on a fixed income and only get paid one time a month. The electric company PSO will not work with us at all our bill is always due before he gets paid so we have had several cut offs. I have seen a program that gives disabled people discounted electric bills and I have not been able to find that organization since.
