Hello, my name is Lawrence. I am in need of emergency assistance with my utility bills. I am 32 and have had a hard life because of my own selfishness. These past couple of years I have turned my life around due to me making a decision that I deserve more, and I want to live life. Well, I have been working dollar to dollar to survive. I have a family now and it is my best friend who is known for years and my three stepchildren.
The way the weather has been lately my jobs have slacked slot and a couple of months ago my little brother got into a car wreck and almost died. I have been trying to help him and his family as much as I can. I am behind on my electric bill with it about to be turned off so a crisis, and I have reached out and I don't know where else to turn to thank you for your time, Lawrence.

I have never had to ask for assistance for my utilities or any bills before, but I have no choice this month in order to provide for myself and my 12-year-old daughter.
I've heard of the emergency LIHEAP program and would like to see if I qualify and can receive it but some places I have called said they have no funds to pay electric or some other reason. I'm currently on my water and power bills. I just don't have the money to pay for them this month. I am also behind on my car insurance and mortgage. I received a letter the other day saying that if I didn't get caught up on my electric bills in a certain number of days it would go into shut off. I'm on social security disability and don't have a lot of income. If I lose my home my daughter and I would be homeless. If there is anything you can do or agencies/emergency programs that can help me, please let me know.

Another less known program is the crisis LIHEAP program - though the name may vary by state. Try that as well as the funds can be paid out in a few business days and learn more on emergency - crisis LIHEAP.

Greetings, I am seeking emergency assistance for my light bill that is due on February 26. I need help paying  the $75.00.  My full bill is $500-600, but I am asking for assistance to keep my light bill to date, which is $75.00.I don’t have any rent money because I was on unemployment, it’s for a limited time. The federal offices shut down so I am not getting food stamps either.   But I will put rent over food anytime. My half of rent due is $575.00.   If there is any emergency light assistance or some way I can earn money to stay to date on my bills, please let me know. Morning, I really do need emergency help. My light bill is due tomorrow $240. Going to be turned off in a matter of hours. I get paid Friday but my check is only from a part time job at the Days Inn.
Working part time, not even 20 hours a week so hard to pay the lights and bills. My check will be $300, not enough to pay rent, just lights but I don't get paid, util after the due date. I have 4 of my grandbabies here with me and they need light and heat. Ages are 8 with a disability; 6; 4 months on the 7th and a 3 month old. I need help bad. If you all cant help, can you suggest someone that would. Called them and still haven't gotten an appointment. Thank you

There are various answer in this thread/post, but another is the emergency LIHEAP program. This can sometimes give out electric bill help in a matter of days(s) vs weeks. If you need emergency help either paying the bills, or transferring the service into your name, it really depends on your state and the electric company. As each state has different programs as do utility companies, but also try the crisis LIHEAP program (or your state's version). Either way find a list of places where to get emergency electric help.

I am trying to get emergency electric help from LES but in my name but really not sure if they will since a huge amount is due, but it is in my husband name and I might need some money down to get it put in my name.

 I am emailing as I am in emergency need of help with my electric bill, it was cut off on 1/4/2021 for a payment of $163 and when I tried to go pay this amount Electric company Lubbock Power and Light told me that I would need to pay $363 to restore my power as the next bill is needing to be made as well. I do not get paid until the 15th of January and we are going on the 3rd day without power and I am single mama of 3 kids and I have complained to the office since it has been cold and not getting anywhere. I  live in Lubbock Texas, Can you please help me this one time, I am needing help one time. I cannot just come up with all this amount of $363 that is insane.
 I do have a full time job and I work hard to pay things on my own this just happen to catch up on me and I just need emergency help with electric, we had a snow storm during Christmas break and it had snowed around 11 inches and was not able to get out but this would be so helpful. We are back to schedule now and I am going to work as I have to provide for my family.

Hello - I am writing to see if I can receive emergency help to keep my electric from being disconnected on May 8. My electric bill is $1400. I only received $746 biweekly in spousal support, I am disabled with two doctors notes from my family physician stating that I am completely disabled for the foreseeable future. I have been separated from my husband since September 21, 2030.
 $746 is the spousal support I am receiving biweekly. I have $2146 in bills. I have to pay a month so I am barely able to just keep a roof over my head as my rent is $700 a month. I am extremely desperate for emergency electric bill help. I have, no car as my car is broke down and I am desperately seeking help. Thank you so much for your time.

Hello, I'm emailing to find out more about your assistance program. My husband and I have been struggling with an emergency electric bill over $4,000 for our electric bill. All our bills have been estimated and not an actual reading. Everytime we are on a payment plan the amount is so high we can not keep up with, with only having one income for a family of 5. We think you should try our general listing of information for electric assistance. It is good news if you need short term relief and are just waiting on a tax refund. That opens up the options for you, so you are more likely to get help. Try this for emergency utility bill help, as we have many programs listed.

My ex husband left the country without leaving the promised funds to pay the bills he is required to pay. I still have a minor child at home, and our electricity will be shut off Monday. I am due a tax refund, but it is taking time, in part, I hear, due to the fiscal cliff. I just need a loan of $200 until the refund comes in to stop our utilities from being shut off. What did TPU say when you told them you are still struggling? As if you have their discount/budgeting program, and are still behind, this will make it difficult for you. As what will you do with your Tacoma Public Utilities for each following month? You are in a bind. My sister resides in North port, Florida and her power is off, so it is an emergency due to the heat. She and her husband have been married for 10 years or more. He has been traveling back and forth to Ohio where he is working and she has been living in their house watching his daughter until a few months ago. At that time the daughter moved out because her dad got her an apartment. About a month ago he came down from Missouri and cleaned the house out.
They took everything out and left my sister with nothing, not even a bed to sleep on. Well last week he had the power shut off. My sister is on disability and there are days she is unable to get out of bed. She’s been trying to find an attorney to help her file for a divorce on the grounds of abandonment, but can't afford the chunk of money they want just to take the case. She is staying in the house with no power, my concern is her having a heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
It’s about a 110 degrees in the house and the light company won't turn the lights back on without getting a 600 deposit. She is on a fixed income and doesn't have money like that for her electric. I have wrote to many people and got no response from anybody all I need to know is where can she get help to have the Power on or move somewhere else. She is sleeping on a blow up mattress that one of the neighbors bought for her. Her husband is in Ohio living quite fine. He makes about 3000 to 4000 a week. There doesn't seem to be any place that wants to help her deal with these emergency electric situation. If there is ANY program that you know of that would help her could you please let me know. Hello I have been on the level pay plan for a few years and my bill somehow increased tremendously from $82.00 now to $333.00. I no longer have a job and my husband is the only source of income but work for him has been a little unsteady which has left us in a huge bind. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
