Re: Propane tanks

Post by daddydaycare »

HI, i am writing in regards to my home heating system and propane tanks. I am 80 years old & a veteran. Is there any help out there to help with getting a heat pump or furnace as I have none now & I don't have any money to get anything. I am freezing'. When I bought the place they said it was a heat pump & it's not it's just an air conditioner & whoever put the thermostat in put in one for a heat pump. I went on-line & saw where one might get help to get a heating system through HRRP. Please help me out in this matter.

For the money for school, apply for a scholarship. As far as the propane for balance of winter, maybe look into government programs like LIHEAP. Now it may be too late to apply, and your local program may be out of funds, but it may be a good option for you to look into for what you need. The energy aid may help you become independent.

I ave dreamed of working in this field for years and I can start out making enough money to get off of State Aide and become completely independent. I am not eligible for Government help for school because someone used my info in the past and I can't seem to get it fixed.

Is that county in Illinois. If it is, use this link for information on Illinois assistance programs. http://needhelppayingbills.com/html/ill ... grams.html
Look into programs like LIHEAP which cover and provide propane too. Maybe weatherization can help you repair that furnace too.

We need to know the state and county. It has been a warm winter across the country, so if out of fuel now then that is not good. Until we know the state/county, try this for more general information, and links to more local programs and resources.

We believe West Virginia offers the Dollar Energy fund charity organization. More info is here. We think it helps with many forms of utility, heating, and gas bills.

http://needhelppayingbills.com/html/nee ... bills.html

Also, definitely call around to other agencies in the region. Find more information and phone numbers at Raleigh County Est Virginia assistance. There are other non-profits and options like the Raleigh County Community Action Association, Inc., phone (304) 252-6396.

The Salvation Army and other local charities don't help with propane assistance. Where can we get help for this one fillup? After that we can go on the budget plan. We reside in Raleigh County, West Virginia

Re: Family of four needs Propane

So it is that much for heating oil/propane? Unfortunately the price of oil has just gone up recently, and everyone is paying more. Maybe there are some programs for you though. Try among them a heating oil/propane buying network. People can save maybe up to 30 cents + per gallon. In addition, explore the main site, use the navigation bars on the left for help with electric bills, and you can find many programs for energy assistance, oil, and much more. Even the Citgo free home heating oil program is referenced on the site. Hopefully it does work out for you in the new home.

The realization of funds when moving into a new place kind of came as a shock. We called to set up with our heating company and they can only deliver a minimum of half our tank size and that equals to $704!!! We are not relying on the propane as heat because we also have a woodstove but we need it for hot water. We are trying to start a new life for ourselves in this home, and its not even ours we are just renting. We are good people that fall on hard times every now and then, and I hate asking for help but I don't know what else to do. My husband just told me he thinks this move is starting to be a bad idea but we don't have much choice, we are constantly getting sick where we are and this house is perfect for us. Please help. I would apply for help but this move came quickly and we just don't have a whole lot of time. Anything would help us. I don't have a sad story to tell anyone, other than we just need the help. And I am one of those people who believes in paying it forward and I try to everyday. I give whatever I can to charities, my daughter's school and our local food bank, when its ironic because we are very low income. But I know there are others that need some things more than we do. But right now its our turn to ask for help.

Wow, those multiple surgerys sure must be expensive, and no wonder you are behind on bills and low on propane. Try these agencies to heating bill help and fuel. Try the local community action agency, which is the Community Action Board of Santa Cruz County, phone number (831) 763-2147
Another good place to call for help is the Santa Cruz Catholic Charities ((831) 722-2675) is there phone number. They probably have information on community clinics for health care in the area too.

Our medical bills are $1500 a month both having open heart surgery and kidney surgery and need another kidney surgery. We have been with Amerigas for 20 years and never missed payments, but now that prices have gone up, we can't keep up with extra costs. Can you help us

In the meantime, here is a link for how to get help with electric, heating bills, and other fuel. Many programs are referenced here, including free heating oil, LIHEAP crisis programs, and more.

My email is [email protected] .. this is no spam. I dont go around begging. I live in a two bedroom trailer, little warmth. i am using electric heaters but they dont warm much and they raise the cost of the well anyway ..thank you

Yes, it is terrible to run out of propane and heating fuel during the winter. There are assistance programs in High Point and the neighboring Guilford County NC area. HEre is a listing of them. They can probably direct you to such programs and options as free diapers and other aid as well. The leading organization to call in the area is probably the Greensboro Urban Ministry (phone 336-271-5959), which offers a program known as the Emergency Assistance Program (EAP). The local community action agency is the Welfare Reform Liaison Project, Inc, and they offer extensive low income programs.

Out of propane

Post by Freedoma »

Hello : I live in high point N.C. . In 2007 I bought a home with a huge propane tank that I used to use to heat my house . I had paid close to $ 800.00 of propane and it lasted two months. So again I had to pay about another $ 800.00 to fill up the tank. which lasted also two months. the next winter I streched it out with difficulty for four months. my first son was born with heat in the house... My second son was born in april... and now we all sleep in the master bed room with two portable electric heaters heating the room with a humidifier as well. I could not afford to have propane service any more. Guildford gas was charging me about $ 107.00 to rent the tank even though I did not get any service to have it re-filled.. So I had them remove the tank... I also looked into changing the heating unit for an electric non gas heat pump. but that is vary costly for me. My house does not have any insulation in the walls ,under the crawl space, nor in the attic. The house is built in 1962 and has plastered cemented walls.. so I was told that I need a dual , gas and electric heating Unit. which I can not afford. I began to install insulation in the attic by myself. I only made it 1/3 of the way. Some times my 3 year old comes out looking for me in Diapers into the cold hallway and family room.. he has gotten sick and cought a cold about three times because my house is not heated at all . My wife as well including my self have gotten sick.and then my 8 month old son gets a cold because i passed it on to him.... I really need my home to be a healthy livable home especialy in the winter. Believe me when I say, I'm praying for an answer., for something to give , what can I do? where can I go ? who should I see? please write back thanks

Re: help with propane and water

Is that Johnston County North Carolina? If so, this will provide info on the resources http://www.needhelppayingbills.com/html ... e_pro.html
Try the Johnston-Lee-Harnett Community Action, Inc., which is a non-profit. They offer heating and other energy bill assistance programs, in particular for people with medical conditions or who are sick. And if you have sick kids, your case is that much stronger. On the site you will also find ways to get help with cancer and other medical conditions you may have. The non-profits phone number is (919) 934-2145
Smith99 wrote:Need help with propane for heating home and heating hot water; however, I am blind and cannot drive. This area has NO public transportation at all and as I have explained to the Community Action of Johnston County numerous times, I have recently had surgery so even if I could get transportation to their office, I can't get there because I am afraid to travel as I could very well pop a stitch, which in any normal case would not be a problem but in my case, I am blind, and I have Lupus (SLE) and Sjogren's disease. We are in the cold and flu season and I have already caught a cold from my 13yo daughter, which she got from school that turned into more than a cold but rather an all out stomach bug-like flu with sneezing, running nose, and coughing. Until about a week ago, I didn't know if I would be fighting breast cancer on top of lupus SLE) and Sjogren's disease. I still don't know for sure as there is another cyst in the side where 2 large cysts were removed but this one is in the fibroid tissue and there are 4 cysts in the left breast that will have to be followed closely as breast, ovarian, cervical, uterine cancers seem to run in the family. The surgeon who removed my cysts has removed many of my maternal aunts' cysts and polpys over my lifetime. Just 3 years ago, I lost one of my aunts to cancer complicated with rheumatoid arthritis.

Here is info on Fayette County assistance programs. Many people need help with heating expenses, including propane tanks. The good news is both the state and federal government offer numerous assistance programs for propane and winter needs. Try the Community Action Commission of Fayette County at (740) 335-7282, and ask about E-HEAP
