Good morning,
My name is Amber and I am writing this letter in reference to my mother, Noorjahan, DOB January 1st, 1948. I applied for Fairfax rent based housing for her but she has not been called yet. She recently got an apartment in Alexandria redevelopment housing at the Crescent Hall location in October 2018. My mom is living with my brother who is in psychiatric care and is 48 years old. Since I live in Manassas Park, which is two hrs. away from my mom's house, it's incredibly difficult for me to help her. Is there any program that will allow her to transfer to Fairfax? My mom's age and my brother's situation makes it really hard for my mom to live that far. Neither of them know how to speak much English. I am the only one who can help them but because I am working in Prince William County public schools and work Monday through Friday, it's really difficult for me to help with their rent and housing because their house is really far and will be further in Alexandria. I would really appreciate it if you can help my mom transfer to the Fairfax county low income housing or let me know the procedure.
Hi Amber
Since you mention multiple regions in Virginia, try our main statewide resource. As there are rental assistance programs in Virginia that can help people in all parts of the state.

High school on your own? Stay in school. Get an education. Virginia has great school systems. We are not sure if Fairfax County rent assistance programs help such young people, but try. Maybe we have listed more than the 15 you tried.

I live with my girlfriend and she is no longer getting enough hours to cover our rent, we have tried to get rental assistance. But since we are not married our $700 rent is split and she paid 322.00 this month and me nothing. But since we are not married, and since she was the only one who was approved for help. We were given $27.00 I have called over 15 different groups from around the state, and no one has been able to help.

You have many options in Fairfax County. They do not have a community action agency, but you can call Fairfax County Department of Family Services at (703) 324-7812. Also, the link below has information on many different charities, non-profits, and other services. For example, for rent help try Good Shepherd Housing and Family Services at (703) 768-9404. There is a program for help with cars, called Vehicle for Change. Many of these programs are talked about at the link below. Many other ways to get help with bills are referenced as well. http://www.needhelppayingbills.com/html ... tance.html
