For your phone bill, since you mentioned applying for Lifeline, definitely keep following up on that—once it’s approved it can lower your monthly cost quite a bit. In the meantime, you could try calling your phone company and asking if they have any hardship programs, payment extensions, or temporary credits. A lot of companies will work with you if you explain your situation.
For gas vouchers, yes—those do exist. You might want to check with local community action agencies, churches, or even organizations like Salvation Army or St. Vincent de Paul in your area. Many of them offer gas cards or transportation help, especially for people starting a new job. Sometimes your local Department of Social Services office can point you in the right direction too.
For clothing, look into local clothing closets or thrift stores that have voucher programs. Churches and nonprofits often give out free work clothes, and some areas even have programs specifically for job-related clothing. You could also try calling 211—they can connect you to nearby resources pretty quickly.
You’re doing the right things by reaching out and applying for help, even if it doesn’t feel like it right now. Hopefully something comes through quickly so you can get to your job and get back on your feet. Hang in there.

I am emailing in hopes I can find assistance with my phone bill
I can't afford my phone bill otherwise I would be calling and I am praying that you get this email.
I just recently moved to Washington and am a single mom. I've applied for child care assistance, Lilfeline phone bill help and food stamps but just recently got a job. I start Wednesday the 14th and was wondering if there are such things as gas vouchers that way I can get to and from there until my first paycheck.
I was also wondering if there is clothing assistance in addition to money for the bill. I have no jeans or slacks and am in need of those and hoodies for this job.
I'm really out of resources and just am at a loss.
I don't know what else to do. Thank you in advance.
