Hi Shirley
We are sorry for your loss. While existing funeral debt is harder to get, look here for programs to try. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... costs.html
There are also some other consumer programs that may offer funeral help, that are specific to NJ, and find those here. https://web.njsfda.org/public/consumer

Funeral debt due in NJ and where can I get help?
Hello, my name is Shirley. I just had a funeral for my son, Anthony last month and I was able to pay part of the funeral expenses and I think my sons Medicaid paid some but I still owe $1,225.00.
I am on Social Security in costly NJ and have no other income. I need to find another place to live because my place is in such bad shape and the owners refuse to repair anything and besides I want to move out of this area to South Jersey as soon as possible, I am looking for a small house which would cost me no more than I am paying for rent and utilities. I have relatives in the area of South Jersey who will do all my work around the yard and etc. at no cost. If you can help me with a program for housing and pay off the funeral home debt I would appreciate it also. I am willing to do what I need to get a new place.
Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
