Re: Questions on rent assistance

Yes, there may be some money for security deposits and rent help in Cedar Rapids. Find the non-profits to call for housing assistance. Some programs do focus on pregnant families too.

My child’s father is 19 and currently in Iowa in a rehabilitation & care center. He was stabbed in July by his father. The care center he lives in will not allow him to work while living there & if he leaves he has no where to go. I am currently working full time & am a part time student I make about 1,100 dollars a month. We would like to get a place together as soon as possible so we can be a family. I live with my mother in Cedar Rapids, IA & I can not stay here much longer. If we could qualify for rental assistance for a month or more than we can get a place & he can find work to help support the baby. I was wondering what we should do & if there are any places that can help us. We would like to stay in Cedar Rapids where my job is located if possible. Thank you for your time.

Can you wait until September in order to get housing help. Or is that just to far off and may face an eviction before then. If can't wait, then try Section 8 housing in Pennsylvania for a number of rent assistance programs, counseling, and advice. You should not need to stay at a motel, and section 8 in PA may be exactly what you need in order to get back on your feet and into some affordable housing units or apartments.

I think cal your local community action agency. Find a listing of community action agencies. Now the major counties are listed on that URL, with links to other states and smaller counties if you do not live in a big county. They will often have limited emergency rent help, or can direct you to an agency to call.

Re: Student needs rent assistance

Many charities and community action agencies offer car repair help. Usually the aid is offered for people who need their car for work, medical appointments, and sometimes for student transportation as well, which would qualify you and that nursing degree you are going for. Some of the charities are national as well, which is awesome for the needy and low income. For example, one charity is A Helping Hand Ministry, and their phone number is (770) 684-0038. They are mostly based in the Southeast, but are a great resource for information and details.

Here is a link for programs in Cook County Illinois and Chicago. You can find agencies and non-profits in Chicago that offer rent assistance, funds for security deposits, and other forms of aid. Assistance programs and options exist for low income families and individuals in the area.

Rent assistance

Post by northam1971 »

Hello,

I was researching online for hardship assistance with my rent and utility bills and came across some information regarding rental help. This information stated something about a stimulus package for families facing eviction and I do fall into that catagory. I have tried to get help in my area of Portsmouth, VA and it's very limited. I've been told there ar eno more funds and to try back at the beginning of the month and when I do Im being told they don't have anymore funds. I know it's a tough time for so many others like myself but I wanted to see if someone could provide me with a phone number of who I can call in reference to this information with the stimulus package assistance if there is such a package or even provide me with any information of any agencies other than Social Services

I desperately need some rent assistance.

Post by melissa_46580 »

I desperately need help with rent I've never asked for help before and it seems like no one wants to help me. I'm 28 years old a single mother and the only income we had coming in was my fiance and he recently lost his job. I've went to the trustee's they denied us because I didnt have a jo. they referred us to some churches the one church didnt get there funding this month. the salvation army denied us because he couldnt receive unemplyement for the lack of work last year. One church helped us with 90.00 which any help is help. I'm confused, stressed beyond belief I've never asked for help and now that i'm needing it I'm get denied and refused. All i do is cry, all I want to do is keep a roof over my daughter's and familys head. I've been job hunting my fiance finally got a interview tomorrow. But were about to get evicted were 560.00 behind and its just seems to get worse I havent been able to pay any bills. I was looking up government funding for rent and I saw some interesting stuff but didnt tell me how to apply or a number for help. I live in elkhart Indiana and right now thats one of the worse places in this econmic time. Please some point me in a direction that will help my family. I would be beyond grateful and appreciative.
