Re: Air conditioner
Good morning,
My mother's name is Delores Miller she is 76 years of age. She has been without an air conditioner, she has fans and a portable air conditioner, but after a specific time it blows stifling air. My mother likes to stay at her own house and does not like to bother anyone. She has home repair insurance by the name of American Home Shield, the insurance is to assist in paying for any repair within her household, the company charged my mother $75 aside of the $50 a month she pays for the insurance, sent a repairmen out whom was very rude and made derogatory comments, the insurance denied the claim and did not inform my mother, the company stated that my mother had to request a copy of the denial letter. How can an individual request a letter if they were not given recognition that they were denied? After further investigation we learned the company had over 8,000 complaints with related stories to my mother’s, they were a complete scam, I wished my mother had informed me before I could have done research.
I have paid multiple Air Condition Repair to fix the Air Conditioner, but it always goes out within a week. I have contacted many agencies such as Programs and Services for older Persons, Illinois Department of Aging, and the American Red Cross, all the agency's state there are no funds available. My mother has always made donations to the agencies and now in the time she cannot receive any assistance.
I'm at the standpoint and cannot configure any other solutions at this time, I know you reside in a totally different city, but you are very knowledgeable about many things, I was inquiring if you knew any other agencies I could contact to assist my mom, neither of us are able to purchase a brand new unit at this time.

I am in desperate need of any kind of help right now. I had come across this search for air conditioning help and I cant even afford a fan right now so an air conditioner would be greatly appreciated. Or the fan would be my second choice but I need something now. Please get back to me on what I need to do. Thank you. Erin

Re: Free air conditoners
Hi,
If you are disabled, and have 2 kids 9are they very young?) you will often get priority. But since you have a portable one already your options may be limited. But whare? At least the state? Until then here is our main link for an AC program. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... oners.html
Also, since you are disabled, you will often get priority to LIHEAP (or state's version). But also try this for a list of LIHEAP programs by state.

Re: Government programs for air conditioners
Hi all
We have several government programs listed for AC units as well as details on charities that give them away. Note the units are always limited and, in general, a free air conditioner is for the elderly, disabled or people with young kids or an illness. Find all the details on government air conditioner programs. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... oners.html

Re: Air Conditioner unit
There are of course charities as well as government offices to try for AC units. Of course government resources such as LIHEAP too. And of course charities in Massachusetts. We have a list-wide range of resources listed. Find them here, at utility bill assistance in Massachusetts

Re: Air Conditioner unit
My name is Lindsay Park. I reside in Pembroke Massachusetts and I need an air conditioner unit. I have a voucher through neighborhood housing solutions. I receive SNAP and I am disabled under the age of 60. I am looking for assistance With my electric bill for The summer months. I do not have an air conditioner and can’t afford one I didn’t know if there was any help with any charities. My car which I need to use to grocery shop go to doctors appointments as I have underlying health issues as well as mental and learning disabilities, errands, etc.. and my car Just started to not work correctly and shut off and stall. I already am negative with my allotted money as I had to purchase an alternator a belt and an air filter for 260$. And my father is my beneficiary and my father is my beneficiary and I am negative for the next two months financially.
I cannot afford to put any more work into this car as it is not going to be worth putting in the money I cannot afford to put any more work into this car as it is not going to be worth putting in the money as the worth of the vehicle. I definitely need a new vehicle as well as an air conditioner unit as I don’t have any other assistance.
So I was basically seeing if there was any nonprofit organizations or government agencies that would help somebody residing in Pembroke Massachusetts which is part of Plymouth County. I’m on disability for mental health and learning disabilities . So I was basically seeing if somebody could help me with getting an air conditioner and if they knew of any program that would help pay for my electric bill which was $300 the second month at my 1 bedroom cottage I moved into in February with my voucher and dog That I purchased to protect me from a seriously dangerous past relationship. And having difficulty trying to afford him. So if there’s any programs to help with cars or loans, air conditioners And help with just electric utilities. And can point me in the right direction I would be greatly appreciative. I do not like asking for help so this is very strange for me by any guidance would be appreciated.

Re: Air Conditioner unit
Hi, Once again thanks. Unfortunately the info you sent me is online.I was asking for one thing info about if there is any place that can help with my Air Conditioner Heating unit.
Not paying bills. Not food. Not medical bills just one thing because I can’t find it on line. And I don’t want to file for food stamp and that kind of stuff.
The help you do for people is helpful.
Unfortunately you just sent me a bunch of info that’s online. Thanks.
I sorry for looking for direction on my Air Conditioner unit. Thanks for your time.
Really I am sorry you feel I say you do no good.

Re: Free air conditoners
Hello,
I am writing to you because I am concerned about a close friend of mine. She is a single mother of a 10 year old daughter and a caretaker for her mother and father which have a number of medical needs and live on SSI. Her AC unit blew out last year and now she is dealing with deadly heat in her home. She needs a free aid conditioner. Herself, her daughter, pets and parents are all at risk. She’s needing a full repair of her AC unit or a swamp cooler that would cool a double wide trailer. We are in Texas where the temperatures are reaching  triple digits. The heat of course is becoming dangerous for all of them. Would it be possible, or know of an organization where a unit such as yours can be donated to her? We’ve tried local charities for free air conditioners and already have a GoFundMe page set up. If you like, you can reach me. Below is her GoFundMe page.

Re: Air Conditioner unit
I am writing on the behalf of my sister who lives in Horn Lake, MS. She was just informed that her a/c furnace has completely gone out and since it is so old parts cannot be ordered to fix it. So, she will have to purchase an entirely new air conditioner unit which will cost her $2700.00. Are there any organizations in Desoto County that can help her with the cost of this?

Re: Air Conditioner unit
Spent all day yesterday talking to 5 different agencies who only helped with bills. They have no emergency situations when a heater or air conditioner goes out from paying bills to insulation. Nothing on a furnace or AC unit.
Where does the Agency fall under govern or senator?
I am sorry but we have been searching and I was given last night a local 211 information number for assistance that started this sad circle over again.
If I sound a little desperate for an air conditioner unit I am I would like someone to understand.
Where do we go it's starting to get cold or hot at night we have little heaters in other rooms but I am worried for the water pipes when it starts to get colder during the fall and winter.

Yes, you definitely need an air conditioner in Florida. Good for you in trying to help your mother. There are units here, mostly from charities. Find information on free air conditioners.

Re: Air Conditioner unit
I am trying to help my mother, as she has no AC unit in her home. She moved to winter haven, FL about a year ago and bought a mobile home and someone removed the unit.
I just recently lost my job and have no way to help her. She cannot live in this home with no AC. She has only her SSI check and can't afford to purchase one herself.
Is there anything you all can do, or recommend for her. I worry about her everyday now that summer is at our door.
Thank you for any help you may provide.
Sincerely,

Re: Air conditioner
Well, once summer rolls around there may be a better chance of getting help. There are free air conditioners out there to us, and mostly for the poor and elderly. But some are used. Other charities may give a box or window fan instead of an AC unit too.

We have been without AC for several weeks.

Re: Air Conditioner unit
To whom it may concern,
I currently deployed to Kuwait and will be returning to my home in Clarksville TN in December 2016. I took leave (Vacation) in December time frame, while on leave my AC unit stopped working and I had no heat and the cooling system didn't work either.
I called an Air Conditioner repair company to check the unit and was told it was going to cost around $3000. The repair man told me that I would be better off replacing the system because it is an old model, 14 years old, and the life of an AC unit is 12 years. The company estimated the total cost of the new unit, installed and all for $14000. I can’t offered this amount so my question is would there be a grant to help me replace or fix the unit? My annual income is $37,994.40, please let me know if there is any service to assist me.

Re: Government programs for air conditioners
To whom it may concern:
Hi, I am a house wife with only my husband working 35-40 hours a week and 4 children between the ages of 4-10. We are from Los Fresno’s, TX. We have had our home for 10 years already and need government help on replacing our AC system or at least getting it fixed. With this summer being extremely hot it has become real uncomfortable dealing with a hot home.
We have survived but we are not used to it. Please respond back as to where I can get government assistance on my home air conditioning unit. Thank You! Any info is greatly appreciated.

Re: Free air conditoners
I am an admin of a Facebook page called Okaloosa County helping hands. It is a group where people try to pay it forward. They can ask for help and others can post items they no longer need. We have been seeing a lot of request for free air conditioners. Mostly people in trailers and people with lung issues. We are in Fort Walton Beach Florida and surrounding areas. Do you have any advice on where to call for any help?

Re: Air conditioner
My family has been using window AC units since or central AC and heating went out several years ago. The cost of running the units is tremendously high compared to what our income is but up until this point we have managed. The window units also do not offer heating for the colder winter months. The house is poorly insulated and does not retain much cool air and recently the main largest window unit went out.
We have been without AC for several weeks.
With the coming summer months I'm worried we will not be able to replace the unit in time. I'm looking for any aid that could help, programs or grants to help fund even finance more energy efficient central units. Even assistance to repair the damaged window unit or help to replace it. I have researched my resources and simply can’t afford the $500- $700 to simply replace it. Any assistance or guidance would be greatly appreciated, I have seen many programs on here offering heating and cooling assistance but am clueless as to which one would be able to help my family.

Re: Free air conditoners
Yes, each year there are charities (including the Salvation Army) that provide these items. In addition to them there are other places to turn to for free air conditioners. If you have a sick kid that will also help you when you are applying.
Re: Free air conditioners
My central air unit stopped working and I have a newborn son in the house. I was wondering if project now has a program that gives free window air conditioner units. We live in a mobile home, and it gets extremely hot. My son spent the first week of his life in the NICU because of his breathing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
