Re: Need heating oil

College is great, so make sure you go to that community college. Working part time at construction is great. Sounds like you have act together and are working hard to improve situation. So to get some advice, or maybe some funds to pay bills in a crisis, use this for Pierce County and Tacoma Washington assistance programs, grants, and general financial aid. A number of organizations and charities may be able to help with college, bills, rent, and the heating oil that you need for this winter. Also look into LIHEAP, which may be your community action agency in Pierce County.

Re: Home heating fuel

Post by JoWomack »

Hi I rent in Portland Maine. I have been out of work since November and not receiving any income. My wife and daughter live with me. I have cashed in my 401 and waiting for the check; should be here soon- no exact date. My problem is fuel-I am very low and running the thermostat as low as possible. I will probably be running out of fuel soon. Is there any place that can have fuel delivered to me and once I get my check I can pay back? I may make be ok and my check may arrive but I am concerned that I will run out of fuel before I have the money. Thank you for any suggestions you can pass on to me.

I am a single parent of two boys and a girl. My oldest is hearing impaired with Cerebral Palsy. I work part-time cleaning houses and take online classes towards a degree in marketing.I am currently one month behind on my rent in the amount of $425.00. I ran out of oil for 3 days until I received LIHEAP. The house I rent is an old farm house and we don't get much heat upstairs. We were running one space heater and I received my electric bill in the amount of $326.00. I waiting to file my income taxes but in the mean time I need assistance.

Well the good news is winter has been much warmer this for for basically everyone in all parts of the county. So the demand for assistance has declined. Can you apply for disability with a broken kneecap and those medical issues? Try that, as you should be able to get funds, or unemployment. Another option may be the free heating oil program, which can be found here. http://needhelppayingbills.com/html/fre ... _fuel.html Qualified people can get up to 100 gallons of free heating oil.

On NOV. 30th I fell & fractured my knee cap and face another surgery to fix it, now we have no income except for my husbands unemployment, we do not qualify for fuel assistance, the cutoff for filing for assistance was the day I fell for the 2011 year. We ran out of fuel last night, we used a 5 gallon container to get some heating oil & my son was able to get the furnace to start, it won't last long & I don't know what else to do, we need some help. I live in St. Paul Minnesota. I know Town & Country Oil will deliver a minimum amount of 100 gallons which is well over $300.00, which I don't have. Thank you for your help.

We are all lucky winter has been so warm this year, as this has really helped people have their heating oil make it through a longer period of time, and people are paying much less towards their heating bills. However with the economy weak, there is still a struggle out there. There are some ways to get free heating oil and assistance programs in place, namely the Oil Heat program from CITGO. Read more on free heating oil, what states are covered, and who to call to apply.

Electric bill is very slightly behind ...balance due to JCP&L is under $200.00 but the next billing cycle is coming any day now. Rent was last paid Oct 8th in full. We have not paid this month rent (Nov 2011) and currently are short about $200.00 to pay it today. Trying to figure out if we pay the rent or buy oil and food. Please direct me to where I can reach out for assistance. I have NOT yet applied for TANF/FoodStamps. Will be heading there this week. PRAB does NOT have any emergency oil assistance at the moment and I have called Middlesex County INFO line. Was given numbers to call and no luck with them either. Thank you in advance for your prompt reply.

Yes, times are tough right now. Hang in there. Good news is seems like economy is slowly improving, and jobs are being created. Just not fast enough right now. We will provide you a few different links and options that may work for you. First and foremost look into LIHEAP. Another option may be free heating oil offered by Citgo. Number of gallons provided is small, but worth a shot. Here are details on all of the energy and heating bill assistance programs run by companies in Delaware. Get that information. http://needhelppayingbills.com/html/del ... _ener.html
Last, be sure to call local non-profits and charities in your area. Most counties in Delaware do have options for the needy. Read more on Delaware assistance programs. Select your county from this page, and call the agencies and phone numbers referenced. May have funds for bills, job counseling, and maybe info on medical care for wife too.

We are not sure where that Valley office is. Is it in the northeaster part of the country. If so, then try the Citgo heating oil program. It is called Oil Heat, and can provide free heating oil to the needy and low income to help them make it through the cold winter or difficult period in their lives. The oil is completely free for qualified individuals.

Are you talking about Berkshire in Massachusetts? If so, here are all of the Massachusetts agencies by county. http://needhelppayingbills.com/html/mas ... progr.html
Mass does have many heating and fuel oil programs. What did Citizens tell you? What did community action agency say? Did they give any tips or suggestions at least, even if they had no financial aid?

One of the popular options these days are heating oil buying networks. Basically many people pool their resources and buying power together to get reduced rates on heating oil. Individuals save dozens of dollars per year in aggregate using a buying network. Some of the leading ones are referenced here.

Some may even be free to sign up at, so no risk. Always read the fine print though too. Like anything in life.

Because of this I am now going to fall behind and it is going to be a struggle to recoup. I am currently right under 1/8 full in my oil tank, I am getting nervous with winter right around the corner and not being able to heat my home.

Maybe try weatherization. He is not using the gas stove to heat his home, is he? Never do that if so. Instead look into other emergency financial assistance in Ohio for gas and energy bills. Find Ohio heating programs here. Heatshare is a main one offered by many utility providers across Ohio. Call your energy company and ask about it. Columbia Gas can be reached at 1-800-344-4077, but all the phone numbers we have listed.

That is great that found a new job and also in school. That is the best way to get ahead long term, even though I am sure it is hard work and on time. Try calling some of our Newark New Jersey assistance programs, as they may be able to guide you to how to get heating oil or general help with paying utility bills and such. An effective agency to call is Essex County Division of Community Action, and there number is (973) 395 - 8350. They administer a number of support and low income programs.

I just started a new job days ago after searching for over a year and I'm in school full time. Also I am a single mom with a few children too. Please help. Thank You

One of the places people are starting to llok for discounted oil is a buying network. Many consumers band together to negotiate lower prices in a heating oil buying network. It is in effect bulk buying, like what Costco and WalMart due with vendors. But homeowners directly benefit. More on heating oil buying networks and how you can save money from them.
