Re: Owe money on heating bills

Post by Rankin »

My state is Maine. I am looking for help with heating fuel (K-1) and whatever else I can receive. We are a four person family children 5 and 10 both girls and my husband is the only one who is working as of now. I am looking for a job and I am also volunteering a few hours a week. We do not receive help with rent but however, we do receive SNAP and TANF. But that does not cover all the bills. We have done away with a land line and receive a lifeline cell phone through the government program, that is used very few cause of the minutes that we receive. We would be much appreciated to receive whatever we can.

How do I apply for help with find additional and paying for my heating oil in Portland Maine. One of us lost our job last week and I am only working part time. I can’t find where I can fill out an application for help, as we need the oil for next year. We buy now in the spring when it is cheaper. My income is too high for assistance and currently I have seven people living in my smallish home. One is out of work due to a heart attack. Three are on disability. One is a disabled veteran who served his county and who is was laid off and is not yet receiving and government or Maine unemployment benefits. Can you please advise me. Thanks so much.

Well, we guess the good news is that the weather has been pretty nice and not as cold, so hopefully you are staying warm during the heating season. HEAP is a good idea, and also look for free heating oil from CITGO. Do you still need oil now that it is April? Either way, look here for Suffolk NY financial assistance programs, which may have oil for you too.

The weather is warming up, so can you make it through the next few weeks with a little oil. Just use heat sparingly, and bundle up. But there may be other options and programs for you too, and those can be found here at electric bill help. I don't know how you came up with nothing in your search for oil on the internet, as we have tons of programs and solutions listed on our site.

Worst of all, we will run out of oil probably by tomorrow. I called our oil company ant the minimum delivery is 50 gallons.I scheduled a delivery for tomorrow but I don't know how we are going to pay for it.I need help and do not know where to turn.I have looked all over the internet and have come up with nothing. Even my church didn't have an answer. I guess maybe we are not poor enough. My paycheck just doesn't cover all our bills and I work really hard and more hours than I get paid for.Where can I turn for help?

Maine is served by a number of emergency crisis programs, and each town must offer it by law. The town emergency programs can in fact provide heating assistance, fuel, oil, and the like. So look into the town office. Find additional Portland Maine assistance programs too, and learn how they can help you and what the various options can do. Luckily this winter has not been too cold for Maine.

I may make be ok and my check may arrive but I am concerned that I will run out of fuel before I have the money. Thank you for any suggestions you can pass on to me.

If you ran out of heating oil, then try this for other Rhode Island utility assistance programs. Many may be offered in a crisis for people who have ran out of heating oil or fuel. Priority is given to people with disabilities, or children who are disabled. So you have a good chance to qualify for aid. That electric bill is way too high. Turn down power too.

We were running one space heater and I received my electric bill in the amount of $326.00. I waiting to file my income taxes but in the mean time I need assistance.

College is great, so make sure you go to that community college. Working part time at construction is great. Sounds like you have act together and are working hard to improve situation. So to get some advice, or maybe some funds to pay bills in a crisis, use this for Pierce County and Tacoma Washington assistance programs, grants, and general financial aid. A number of organizations and charities may be able to help with college, bills, rent, and the heating oil that you need for this winter. Also look into LIHEAP, which may be your community action agency in Pierce County.

We are not really sure what County Walden is in, but we think Montgomery New York. There are various places that may provide heating oil, like LIHEAP and others. Find a listing of options for you here at New York assistance programs.

Well the good news is winter has been much warmer this for for basically everyone in all parts of the county. So the demand for assistance has declined. Can you apply for disability with a broken kneecap and those medical issues? Try that, as you should be able to get funds, or unemployment. Another option may be the free heating oil program, which can be found here. http://needhelppayingbills.com/html/fre ... _fuel.html Qualified people can get up to 100 gallons of free heating oil.

All three of my children have asthma & allergies and my oldest daughter has another medical condition. On NOV. 30th I fell & fractured my knee cap and face another surgery to fix it, now we have no income except for my husbands unemployment, we do not qualify for fuel assistance, the cutoff for filing for assistance was the day I fell for the 2011 year. We ran out of fuel last night, we used a 5 gallon container to get some heating oil & my son was able to get the furnace to start, it won't last long & I don't know what else to do, we need some help. I live in St. Paul Minnesota. I know Town & Country Oil will deliver a minimum amount of 100 gallons which is well over $300.00, which I don't have. Thank you for your help.

We are all lucky winter has been so warm this year, as this has really helped people have their heating oil make it through a longer period of time, and people are paying much less towards their heating bills. However with the economy weak, there is still a struggle out there. There are some ways to get free heating oil and assistance programs in place, namely the Oil Heat program from CITGO. Read more on free heating oil, what states are covered, and who to call to apply.

Yes, times are tough right now. Hang in there. Good news is seems like economy is slowly improving, and jobs are being created. Just not fast enough right now. We will provide you a few different links and options that may work for you. First and foremost look into LIHEAP. Another option may be free heating oil offered by Citgo. Number of gallons provided is small, but worth a shot. Here are details on all of the energy and heating bill assistance programs run by companies in Delaware. Get that information. http://needhelppayingbills.com/html/del ... _ener.html
Last, be sure to call local non-profits and charities in your area. Most counties in Delaware do have options for the needy. Read more on Delaware assistance programs. Select your county from this page, and call the agencies and phone numbers referenced. May have funds for bills, job counseling, and maybe info on medical care for wife too.
