Looking for help from Massachusetts nonprofit credit counselors

Hello,
I am looking for a way to pay down my debt and improve my credit scores and read about nonprofit options. I know that there are debt consolidation programs, but that stays on your credit report for 7 years and leaves a negative mark for future credit. I would rather take out a personal loan and use that money to pay off my cards. That way I would have just one monthly payment at a lower interest rate in order to clear that debt within a few years.
Many banks do not want to work with me due to only having a Fair credit score ...... but that would increase as the debt was paid off. My goal is to increase my scores and decrease my debt at the same time but need some nonprofit willing to work with me to do this. Do you offer a personal loan option or know of any banks that offer that option in Massachusetts?
