Hello. I really don't know how to start, but I think I am going to tell you a little bit about my lovely husband. We met 14 years ago in a chat room. After one year of a long distance relationship, we got married. After five years of marriage, a beautiful girl came into our world.
The people who know my husband know how dedicated he is to our family. He is an excellent dad, husband and a great human being.
Last Friday, our lives changed. My husband was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. According to the doctor, this is one of the most aggressive forms of cancer. Upon hearing this news, I felt my world collapsing.
Aside from the concern of the disease and the large expenses that come with it, I am very concerned about what is going to happen to my family with our bills and specifically rent. The doctor told us that once the treatment begins, my husband will not be able to work. He works two jobs and is the only income that my family has. My daughter has a genetic condition which requires me to bring her to a lot of doctor appointments, so I am not able to work right now. In addition, I don't have any family here in San Jose or anywhere in Santa Clara County, so I am the only person here to take care of my husband and daughter.
Just one year ago, we were lucky enough to be able to rent our own apartment. With this recent diagnosis, we are afraid that we will soon not be able to afford the rent and thus, lose the roof over our heads.
If you are able to help us in any way, I would really appreciate it.
