Hi Robert,
First, thanks for your service. Two options for you are here. One take a look at out main Jacksonville FL area rent assistance program guide where a bunch of agencies you can try are listed. Changing Homelessness in the are may be a great option for you too as they have info on dozens of agencies and the SSVF back up options too. Changing Homelessness is at https://www.changinghomelessness.org/

The problem is that the SSVF program will no longer pay our rent because our landlords will not make any of the major repairs we have been requesting since 12-16. The issues are making our house inhabitable and unhealthy. Major holes in the roof and exposure to rain and Black Mold. Also, I filed a complaint and have a case with the city building inspector’s office. Our landlord has not even begun to fix any of the issues we have including no heat since 12-16. Because of the we have fallen behind on our rent and lost our help and now have a summons for eviction. Tomorrow is day 5 in which I will file an answer and also a Motion to determine rent since their bookkeeping is a whole other issue. Can you please help me? I have tried the local 3 rivers legal aid which was of absolutely no help, and they said they could only give advice for us.
Thank you, Robert

(Jacksonville, FL Duval county)
I am looking for assistance with my rent. I spoke to my leasing manager 2 weeks ago on the 2nd in regards to rent not being paid in March but I explained that I let the previous assistant know back in February that I have not worked since February 13, 2025. I have been dealing with losing feeling in my left arm and leg so I was not able to work. My job needed me to see a doctor and I did but the doctor bills were adding up and since I had no income coming in I could not go to get my MRI scan or blood work which led to me being let go from my job on May 5th. On May 2 the office manager said she needed to contact the management over her to see what she can do since my account was not updated in February, she has not called me back up there but I got a notice on my door today that says I have until July 10, 2025 to pay rent in the amount of 743.00 or my kids and I will be evicted. We live in Florida in Duval county & I am looking for help so my kids and I will not lose our home.

Hello, my name is Amiya. I am a college student who needs help paying her rent. This will be for the upcoming fall semester. As my loan is delayed but the rent on my off campus house is due in 2 weeks. I will pay the money back too if needed. I currently reside in Jacksonville Florida for school.

Hi,
Whether moving or needing help with back rent, there are agencies in Jacksonville FL too. They includes City Social Services, NE Florida community action which serves all of Duval County, the BEAM charity and others. If you need the money by August, that gives you plenty of time to look for rent assistance so good for you for applying early. Find more programs here.

Rent assistance in Jacksonville FL needed before eviction

I live in Jacksonville, Florida, and will be evicted by August if not sooner. I need help with rent and a security deposit for a new residence by August, at the latest. Or need money to pay the rent I now owe so do not have to move which would be better
I paid the June rent a few days late and did nothing wrong. But the new owners of these rentals are ending the tenancies of all current residents so the owners can renovate and charge twice as much rent.
I am 69 years old, independent, and healthy, but I have no means to afford a new place to live by August. If I can't prevent eviction by that time, then I at least want to forestall it. By the end of August, I expect to have well-paying employment and will be able to get back to normal again.
So I am asking for (1) help to move by August--rent and security deposit for a new place to live. And I would like (2) legal advice to see if I can prevent or delay eviction.
I have not been able to get through to legal aid in Jacksonville Florida, the county of Duval or to the city of Jacksonville for housing help. I have done everything I can do and need help.
Deborah
I will give more information if you answer me.
