We can send you a list of rental assistance programs for Flushing and Queens, which can help seniors too if qualified. They may have ideas about subsidized housing as well. But since you are a social worker, can't you "plug" into your network too?

I am a Social Worker trying to assist a 73 year old gentleman with finding affordable housing in the Flushing, New York area. He lives alone.
Current rent is $851. His SS check is $1100/month. My client has gone through all of his savings to try and keep up with rent.
He is currently behind and is facing eviction in the near future. My client applied for subsidized housing with the Housing Authority about 5 years ago…still waiting.
Are there any low income housing programs for seniors in the Flushing area? Is there emergency financial assistance available to help my client get caught up on rent.
This would give him more time to locate a cheaper option for housing. Thank you in advance for any information you can provide.
