I am a single grandmother and mother struggling to get my disability. I have not had any income for a very long time, being denied disability. I have shared custody of my 7-year-old granddaughter with my oldest daughter, her mother, while working reunification plans throughout her sobriety. I live in Louisville, KY 40216.
I am now recently being approved for Section 8 and previously living in the Park Hill projects for about three years, waiting for housing via homelessness and previous domestic violence. I am needing help. My father is deceased. My mom is 71 and still works in a factory. I have had two brain surgeries and have a multitude of issues with my neck and back that prevent me from being able to work, along with thyroid, breathing, and migraines. Anyway, I have not been able to work. I worked for many years at AT&T, and if I could, I would.
Also at home is my youngest child that was born female but identifies as male and is definitely on the autism spectrum with severe emotional distress, anxiety, and depression disorders, among other issues. We struggle for household things, especially things that are particular to an autistic-desired funding for arts and crafts, etc.
Also, my granddaughter Hazel has a school hardship for the next county over so that she could remain in the school she has been in for the last couple of years, because she has a hard time with change after so much change in her life already, which has been a lot. I drive my mom’s extra vehicle that is on its last leg and is a V8, taking her to and from school. I saw on the website there are ways to get gas vouchers, vehicle repairs, or even a vehicle donated, vouchers or help with Christmas, and/or household items, utilities. But I could not get to any of it particularly.
I have had this same phone since 2018, and the memory is so full I can barely do anything, and we do not have a computer. We can use all the help we can get, please. I owe over $1,000 on a storage bill where my stuff has been in storage so long, unable to pay. Also, the deposit for the Section 8 house is up to me, and I have no idea how I am going to do this or the monthly bills if I am being realistic.
I am very appreciative and thankful for our rent paid and being out of the most dangerous part of Louisville. Even though I have not fully got my things out of there because I have had two broken ribs and no help, it still leaves these other hardships at the door. And I believe God led me to this site for help. I pray you all will answer.
Thank you so much for your time. Happy Thanksgiving in advance.
Sincerely,
Tonya

Re: help needed in louisville kentucky
Good afternoon
I have tried picking my way through the website but am finding it difficult to know where to land to apply for rental assistance in Louisville. I feel as though I just keep following links further and further into the site but there's no end. Any advice or direction more than to just the site would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Try calling the Louisville Community. they can be reached at 502.574.1157. This non-profit Louisville based community action agency offers several assistance programs, including rent help. And if they can't help you, then they can defintely refer you to who can help. They also have details on government programs. Here is some more info.
