Hi
My name is Mike. I am a union utility worker in southeast Michigan. While on a project in Warren Michigan, I encountered a client of my utility company whose gas was shut off prior to us doing work. This client is a single mother of 4 I believe. Her oldest child has special needs. I spoke with her and mentioned I noticed her gas was off. She said she was on a payment plan with a past due balance. “Q” told me that she missed her most recent payment by 6 days and was shut off.
She showed me how her and her children slept in their living room with a space heater and blankets.
In her attempts to talk with Consumers energy she made no headway even though she is a customer of them.
Michigan has cold winters and this lady and her kids need the gas on
Please let me know if my client is eligible for some type of help.

Looking for utility bill programs for my clients
I am an outreach worker that works for Vinfen in Lawrence and I am inquiring about whether you help with utility bills. I am working with a young mother of one who has been living with family for the past several years and this has been an emotionally abusive situation. She recently reached the top of the waiting list for public housing in North Andover and is will be moving into an apartment within the next two months.
The barrier she currently faces is a past electric bill in which her family used her information to open. She reports that her family ran an electric bill up in her name in the amount of 4,752.85 and they have offered a settlement in the amount of 2376.43. I was wondering if you had any funds available to help with this so that she can successfully move into permanent housing with her daughter. Any assistance or advice would be appreciated. Thank you so much for your time and consideration in this matter.
