I think you’re on the right track. FFor the permit piece, apply through San Antonio’s BuildSA portal so the work stays legit while you’re out of state: https://www.sa.gov/Directory/Departments/DSD/BuildSA
. Since these are disability-related mods, check Texas’s Amy Young Barrier Removal grants (works for renters and homeowners): https://www.tdhca.texas.gov/programs/am ... ogram-aybr
. You probably want to/need to upload doctor’s letter and scope of work in BuildSA,

Money to pay for Building permit
Dear sir,
I’m requesting information on getting financial assistance to pay for required building permits due to modifications which are in violation. I have a permanent disability, low income and am in a desperate situation. I inherited my home when my mother passed away and wasn’t aware that there are modifications that were done without permits.
An officer from code enforcement has indicated that I have to make repairs in order to bring it up to code and I need money for the building permit I’m extremely concerned and don’t know what to do. I fear I’m going to lose my home since I’m unable to pay for these unforeseen expenses. I don’t even know how much this will cost. Is there a program that provides assistance for this situation Thank you.
