Re: facing eviction and need rent help
I am a single mother of 2, I work full time and recently had my electricity turned off so my kids and I were in the cold and the dark for the past 2 weeks. I had to use part of my rent money to pay to have my electricity reinstated, which has left me short on my rent for June and facing eviction.
My landlord just recently filed eviction paperwork and I don't have the money to pay the rest of my rent and I don't have the money for a security deposit if I have to move. We have hardly any food at this point, we've been eating at friends homes and coworkers have been making meals for me to take home to the kids. I need any help available with my rent or we will be homeless very soon.

Re: facing eviction and need rent help
If you are on a short term layoff and will soon be going back to your job, then that may help in your case for the $586. Waiting until today though does make it challenging as the non-profits in Linn County will have a formal application process that takes time. So find our Cedar Rapids assistance programs and resources.

Re: Facing Eviction
I'm a 10 month school employee who had a job lined up for the summer, since I knew June would be my last paycheck until December 2013, however, the company cut back on a few employees, and I was no longer needed before I started. So now I am facing eviction. I received my last check in October along with losing 7 days of no pay for teacher assistants and I was unable to pay rent for September, October & November. I spoke with my landlord via letter and he's willing to work with me. I've been seeking part time work the whole summer and fall and found nothing. I'm steady searching and I plan on working part time when I find employment because I seriously behind on rent. I know others are struggling as well, but I'm believing for miracles for all of us! Thank you

I have paid $500 so far this month and I need assistance with the last remaining $586.07 for my rent this month. I have 50 dollars to my name and My landlord is threatening to evict us from the home if we do not pay today! If you could please contact me ASAP to see what I can do that would be greatly appreciated.

Re: facing eviction and need rent help
Need help, desperately seeking help for rent. I've been on workman's compensation and have had surgery so my case is almost over but I didn't have any compensation until recently. It’s just me and every time I try to get back on my feet I seem to fail. My electric bill from another residence was over 1000 and I am still trying to pay it so my electricity doesn't get turned off even though it doesn't apply to my new place. Then I fall behind in rent, I have already been homeless I don't want to be again. I have a three day pay or quit notice. Can you please help? Sincerely,

Re: facing eviction and need rent help
I need help paying my rent for April because I was laid off a couple weeks before Christmas due to job cuts and I just recently had a newborn son and I really need the assistance. I just started a new job but I won’t be paid until a couple weeks by now and I don’t want the late charges to be outrageous. I just really need the help for this month until I can get a paycheck again.

I am a single mother of two, I work full time as a preschool daycare teacher I find it hard sometimes to try and pay every bill and at this moment rent is one of them I find myself thinking this year my 4 & 5 year sons might not have a Christmas. I never ask for help but I pray that I can get help this one time.

Re: Facing Eviction
Dear Sirs/Madams,
I am being evicted if I do not pay 1396.00 by 8 am Thursday. I have 900.00, will have 249.00 on Friday and get my last unemployment check on the 10th of October. I have done all I can. I have a 13 year old granddaughter. Please someone help me I am at my wits end. This was my Mother's house in Washington DC until I could no longer care for her. I am being charged 399.00 for September, October and November of 2011. I have contacted attorney and they say I am just out of luck. I assumed the individuals in their positions would do their work properly and not have me in this position. I did not appeal because I "assumed " people would own up to their mistakes. My granddaughter has had stability theses last 4 years when I brought her back to DC from Ohio, for a visit and ended up taking care of my 75 years old mother who suffers with dementia and retaining custody of her. I am 49 years old. I am trying to do my finals at Everest and am so stressed I may lose funding. I need help IMMEDIATELY. I waited so long because I am desperate. Thank you. Please can somebody help us?

Re: facing eviction and need rent help
My family and I recently had our home foreclosed. We were lucky enough to find a man who was renting in Plano Texas and didn’t require first, last, security, background/ credit check. So even though it was a little out of our price range we really had no choice. Now ONLY two months into the new place the father of my children lost his job. We have been there for 8 weeks now and just had the water turned on last week. I have a 3 year old and a 5 year old and their grandmother is very disabled. I am so scared. I went to college and have worked since I was 13 years old. This is the longest I have ever gone without work. I went to school but am a couple credits shy of being an Elementary school teacher and for the last 6 years I have designed websites and managed internet departments for car dealers. I can't find a job anywhere. To make matters worse my baby’s father has sent out honestly 25-30 resumes from our local job search. PLEASE HELP ME for the first time in my entire life I am scared for my children. Thank you and God Bless.

Re: facing eviction and need rent help
I have lived where I am at for almost 4 years...in exchange for my rent and utilities my domestic partner and I worked for our landlord. Mike worked for him doing something most of the time 5 or 6 days a week. He and his new girlfriend went on vacation for 4 weeks and we took care of his home, business, cattle, and everything else while he was gone. less than 2 weeks after his return he stopped talking to us and gave us an eviction. We have filed a paupers appeal. Eventually we are going to have to move, but we are both now unemployed, and have no money...no where to go such as friends or family to stay with...no way to move and two little dogs that have to go with us. Do not have a clue where to turn please help us someone!

Re: Facing Eviction
Hello,
We signed a 2 yr lease last July & 4 months later w/o our knowledge the owner put the house for sale and people came for a scheduled viewing that we knew nothing about. When we contacted the leasing company we were told the owner's had financial difficulties and now had to let the house go but would remove the house to honor our lease. We began to get e-mails on all kinds of things and each time we replied we were told "well you can always move". Then we were given a certified notice today that said we had 30 days to move out but still had to pay for the month of June & the house has never been removed from the market. We feel we were defrauded in our lease. How do you go from an agreement to 2 yrs w/ improvements to the home by us based on the 2 year agreement to the house needing to be placed for sale in 4 months? Please help we are a family w/ a disabled parent and all funds exhausted into the home we expected to be in for 2 yrs & nowhere to go. We feel like we are being defrauded and bullied out of all we have and do not know where or who to turn to.
Please help.

Re: Facing Eviction
Hello,
I am currently a SSG stationed at Fort Hood. I have been in the military for 6 years. I am going through a Medical Evaluation Board for Chronic PTSD and Major Depression. Some unforeseen medical situations(mental and physical) occurred last year to where I had to move my aunt here, causing some disruption in my financial situation, where I could not catch up. Along with having to get another car because the schools rezoning, so my daughter no longer had a way to or from school. So I ended up moving out of a home in which I had rented for 1+ years. I moved into a four-plex because it was the most expeditious way to go. Now I pay rent on the apartment and a storage. The property that I am currently in is not the most satisfying, especially with the 24hr a day barking dog. I am trying to move back into another house, but no one will rent to me, because I have this $3k judgement from my last rental property. The rent was only $925, but again I could not catch up, so even though I was paying the rent, the late fees kept compiling. Do you have any suggestions on how I may find a home suitable for myself and my family? Thank you in advance

Re: About to be Evicted, Need help soon
We would say look into many of the New Hampshire section 8 housing programs. Those may be the best option for you at this moment in time. And information on them is on our site. Someone who is pregnant may be able to be prioritized before others, however there more than likely will be some type of waiting list before you can get help from section 8 in NH.

now, was not made aware of that until recently when a partner moved in (my mothers best friend who is mentally unstable, makes us nervous having our child here). Still owe $375 for rent at last location. 2 months behind on truck payment ($400 combined). We have a 13 month old daughter and i am 22 weeks pregnant now. We would like to move immediately, and prefer to move closer to my fiances job because the distance and gas prices are making it hard for him to get to work, which makes it hard to catch up on debt, take care of our daughter, and pay current bills. If there is ANY programs that you know of that would help we would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much.

Re: Facing Eviction
For the gas, some agencies like the Salvation Army in New Orleans may have volunteers to drive you to an appointment, or they may in face be able to give you vouchers for buying gas. Try them. Can you stay with someone until disability kicks in. Also, find more information on rent assistance New Orleans and the different agencies and programs that operate in the city.

Re: facing eviction and need rent help
Many people do get injured and then need rent or housing help. Sadly that can be one of the causes that leads to evictions and even homelessness in the worst cases. You need to ensure you get disability, SSI, unemployment, and any other funds or cash that you may be entitled too. Talk to a social worker in New York City too. Start all of these tasks early and often, before you fall too far behind. And then look into New York City rent assistance programs and solutions. Start calling around to the various non-profits and NY government programs listed on our site. If need to, speak to your lawyers and get guidance and support from them too.

I have been walking around with an fraction on my big toe for the past few years. I got evicted from my Bronx apartment due to non payment from insurance carrier ( Amtrust ) around the same time I had knee surgery and had to relocate to South Carolina. As an child I lived in the projects and grew up on welfare. I have work very had not to depend on the working people and provide for my family on my own. I got an career became an union carpenter, and I am also an show carpenter for the New York Madison Square Garden. I have recently been cut off my benefits again! And was also told by lawyers that my payments have been reduce. I do not understand first they say payments should be according to how much you make in 40 hours. I already had an pay cut I was already getting way less then what I make when I am working. I was getting 1200.00 hundred every two weeks now they want to give 422.00 every two weeks. As an single mother of an disable little girl and another boy, this will not cover cost of living, keep in mind I do not receive any type of government assistance for my daughter, my son or myself. I have grown accustom to living a certain way in safe neighborhoods, clean environments , and better schools for my child. I refuse to have that taken away from me after I work so hard. Any advise would be greatly appreciated !
