Re: Disabled, need car repaired
Hello
My name is Robin and I am having a hard finding someone who helps those who are disabled in need of auto repair. If someone can please get back with me because on who in my area can help me get my vehicle fixed. I need to have reliable transportation to get to and from doctors’ appointments and getting my daughter to/from school. Being a single mom is hard but to be one with health problems is harder. I just really need help finding someone in my area that can fix my vehicle because I can't afford to get it done on my own with limited income.
Thank you for your time and help,
Robin

Re: Fixing car on only SSDI income payments
Hi Denys and all,
Car repair programs are rare. And SSDI does not pay a "ton" of money nor was that ever the goal of it, and generally speaking the cost of major car repairs would be next to impossible for people whose only support is SSDI disability. But we do have some programs, such as grants, listed for fixing a car and find them here. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... rants.html

To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Denys and I live in Rexburg, Idaho. I am in desperate need of assistance with truck payment, doctor bills and car repair…to name a few. It has been a rough 4 years of me being the only one in the household working and with my man who isn’t able to work for the past 4 years as he is on SSDI in a bad way. I don’t know who to ask or where to turn for help to get the car fixed when most are income is from SSDI. Thank you for your time and assistance.

Re: Anyone help fix a car for a disabled widow?
Hi Donna,
Car repair programs are rare, even for disabled people or older widows / widowers. But ty this for a grant to fix a car - some help disabled people. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... rants.html
While that takes place, there are free rides for the disabled too. So since you are a widower, with no access to a car right now while a fix needs to be done, try this for a ride. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... abled.html

Anyone help fix a car for a disabled widow?
Hi, I was wondering if you have any programs for disabled widow’s car repairs. I'm currently on survivor benefits.
I'm below the poverty level and need some work on my Toyota corolla. I get $966 a month, my husband died last April. He did the majority of work needed. Now I'm stuck without the money to fix an issue, I have no credit cards due to a foreclosure.
I'm hoping you can point me in the direction of anything available to help me as a disabled widow out. I have pins, plates, and screws in my ankle, and public transportation is too far for me to walk. Thanks for any help you can provide. My current inspection sticker expired and I need to fix the heat shield. Sincerely, Donna

Re: Disabled, need car repaired
Hello,
I just turned 68, disabled and I'm in need of help paying for car repairs. I use my car for doctor's appointments for my disability, shopping, and church services. I had my car looked at and it needs $2,103 in repairs. It is a 1996 Mercury Sable, but it only has 95,685 miles on it. This is the only time it needed major repairs. It has been very reliable all these years.
I can't afford a new or another used car. I receive SSI payments, so there is very little money left over at the end of the month for a disabled person like me.
If you can help or know of someone who can help me get me car repaired, I would be very grateful for any assistance.
I have also started a GoFundMe fundraiser. If anyone is interested, the link is below.

Re: Fixing car on only SSDI income payments
Good day:
I am seeking help in the Newark Delaware area for car repair assistance that I can pay for eventually using my SSDI income.
I am presently homeless. But I live in a hotel)but have a job and I need my car to get back and forth to work.
I really can't afford to pay a lot to get my car repaired because of my situation at the moment of being disabled on SSDI. am seeking a stable place to stay and trying to maintain my bills in order to get stable housing. I'm not seeking a hand out but a repair shop that is reasonable .
I would appreciate any feedback concerning this matter. Please allow me to thank you in advance for your time and concern.

Fixing car on only SSDI income payments
I am Disabled and currently receiving SSDI minus my Medicare premium and 10% disability from the VA. I am supporting my disabled wife and me on less than 1100 USD per month. I am in need of car repairs to fix an oil leak, new struts for the front and load levelers for the rear so that VA can install a lift for my mobility scooter. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Disabled, need car repaired
Car repair assistance is very rare. Some mechanics though may offer this, sometimes in partnership with charities such as Love Inc. They are a national organization that offers basic needs, maybe referrals to repairs, and coordinate other services for the disabled. So give them a ring to see if they can help, and more information on Love Inc. here. http://www.needhelppayingbills.com/html ... tance.html

Re: Disabled, need car repaired
I’m on social security disability.
I'm having trouble to get my car fixed it's going to cost around 800 dollars to get fixed. My wife does work but between our bills and what our kids need we never have anything leftover sometimes not even enough to pay our bills. My mother-in-law helps out as much as she can.
My daughter's do get the Indiana Hoosier health
Basically I'm asking if some how I could get help to get it fixed. My wife does have her own car but she needs it for work and I need mine for doctors appointments for myself and my three daughter's. So if I could possibly get some that would be great. If you could email me back to see what I could do to figure out what I need to do
Thank you very much for your time.

Re: Disabled, need car repaired
I need help on getting van from the shop. In November it went in because the transmission went. Well my boyfriend's dad said he would help and I would pay back at tax time. Its now almost February and gotten no help. My family can't not help me. I'm low income, disabled also a mom of 3 that live 45 minutes from me which I haven't seen them. Any suggestions would be great. I know mid Michigan community action plus DHS does not help with that.

Re: Disabled, need car repaired
It is not common to get help with car repairs. Not common, and not too much financial assistance for this. Call your local church, Salvation Army, or Catholic Charities. Try a community action agency too. What state are you in? Also try this link for some general information on car repairs. There are a few charity type organizations referenced.

I need my car because I can't walk to the bus stop or be able to afford a taxicab. I just made an appointment for physical therapy, but I have no way to get there without my car. Medicab in MT won't help with transportation if you have a vehicle registered with the state. I'm on SSI (674.00/monthly) and I get 30.00 a month in food stamps.
From what a few friends told me about my car is it sounds like I need a crankshaft sensor and camshaft sensor as they had the same trouble starting their similar model car. The parts are not that much but the labor would be more than I could afford. Roughly, 250.00 I was thinking. Any help at all would be so wonderful. Thank you so kindly to anyone who can help me and God bless you. [email protected]
