Look into the local Continuum of Care or rapid rehousing program if they have any homeless prevention or deposit assistance. Since you've already been approved for the apartment, that may improve your chances.

I had a domestic dispute and was forced to leave my home with my 6-year-old son. I work full time, and have a vehicle to maintain my work status. I have recently been approved to move into a rental near my son’s school, and 10 minutes away from my workplace.
I applied to DHS for cash assistance with my security deposit and rent, but due to there being no legal eviction, they cannot help me. I can afford the rent, I just need help with the security deposit to get in. This is $800. I've applied to so many agencies for money just to keep getting turned down. I need to get a roof back over my son’s head before it gets any colder. Please let me know if there is anything you can do,
