Salvation Army Loudoun County assistance programs.

Social services offered by the Loudoun County Salvation Army will help low-income families meet a variety of needs. Some of what is available in the community includes free food, clothes, senior programs, a homeless shelter, financial assistance for bills or housing, gas cards and more. There are also free seasonal programs (free school supplies, heating bill help, Christmas toys or holiday assistance) as well. Find help from the Salvation Army centers in Loudoun County.

Low income or struggling families, unemployed, single moms and seniors are some of the primary recipients of the assistance offered. Many of the Salvation Army emergency assistance programs are focused on Loudoun County residents who are in a hardship and that need emergency help at the same time as case management.

Salvation Army funds for paying bills, medical needs or free food programs

Medical assistance programs are offered. This can provide emergency prescription medication assistance, vouchers, and medical help to the uninsured and low income in Loudoun County Virginia. Some basic health care may be provided or coordinated in partnership with local clinics as well as volunteer doctors. More on free health care clinics in VA.

Emergency and/or financial assistance can cover a number of basic needs. A major focus is on short term, crisis costs. The Salvation Army can provide short-term financial help, including help with paying utilities, rent, free food, clothing, furniture, car repairs for work, and clothing. Free vouchers to pay for gas (for a job interview) or work clothes for low-income families are offered too. The Salvation Army also works with local charities, government agencies and churches, such as the Loudoun County Department of Family Services.

Together they coordinate and ensure that emergency assistance is provided only to those with a documented need and who are faced with a crisis. All resources are very limited, and it often relies on donations and volunteers from the community. Various qualifications will need to be met.

Family Stores and Donation Centers are located in the region. These locations support the variety of outreach programs by turning reusable and donated goods into much needed funding. Proceeds generated at the Salvation Army Family Stores will be invested into the many outreach and emergency assistance programs that are managed by the Social Services Department.

  • The primary Family Thrift Store is located at 10 Cardinal Park Drive in Leesburg Virginia. The center allows needy families to purchase gently used, yet higher quality, donated furniture, clothing, and other essentials at affordable prices.

Loudoun Salvation Army seasonal assistance

Christmas and Thanksgiving assistance includes, meals, gifts, and free food vouchers. There is also the Angel Tree and Adopt a Family in Loudoun County for kids from low-income families. All of these and more are offered.

The food items mostly come in the form of grocery store gift card vouchers for families and individuals in need during the holiday period. Thanksgiving meals include a nourishing, warm meal, such as a turkey. It is usually served at the local Corps buildings to anyone who needs help and who asks. Many local families and restaurants assist with these holiday programs by donating, preparing, and serving the food to the needy.

The Angel Tree Program runs during the Christmas season as well. It offers Loudoun County individuals and families the ability to purchase Christmas gifts or toys, clothing, shoes, personal items and other items for needy children and elderly. Local churches, businesses, malls, etc. provide Angel Tree sites. The needy children and seniors in the region are then provided the gifts and clothes for free.

Free back to school supplies are offered from the Salvation Army Tools For Schools Program. Teenagers, children, and students from grade K-12 receive such essentials as free clothes, uniforms, shoes, notebooks and backpacks. The items will help them prepare for classes during the fall.

Men’s and Women’s Ministry offers community outreach, fellowship, and education. A meal is also provided too. Salvation Army staff, and volunteers, in Loudoun County help the homeless, people batting addiction or abuse and others in need.

General support is offered from community care. Salvation Army volunteers make or purchase small gifts or needed supplies and deliver them to local elderly and senior citizens. This ensures everyone gets what they need, and the volunteers also bring attention and companionship to seniors and the homebound.
