Re: Behind on property taxes as lost job
I have been disabled since 2003. For three years I raised my three daughters’ with little to no help from my ex husband. This is the same man that tried to beat me. Then I meet the man of my dreams and everything was going great until I started to remember what I buried for years. From 1995 until 2001 I was raising my girls on my own this is when I meet the man of my dreams. He stepped in as dad for the girls and treats them like his own. We put them thru college and are still paying. Because we had little to no help from him. I just slowly start to shut down because in my past My family would say your not worth it and you mess everything up, because everyone in my family didn't care I did care what happen to me. This is one of the reasons why we are in money problems because I just didn't care, what happened to me. For years I just dealt with it until I couldn't any more. I really care what happened now but it my be to late and now I am under doctors care. I suffer from PTSD and severe depression. I know with their help I am worth it. They also helped me thru the death of my Mom in 2010. But now we are going to lose our house if $16,500 isn't paid by October 28 our house will go out to auction on November 15th. for back taxes. I have let my family down and now if we lose the house I don’t know how my mental health is going to take it. PLEASE can you help. Thank you for your time.

Re: Help with paying property taxes
To whom it may concern, I went through a divorce last year and as a stay at home wife and mother found myself on my own without work. I do draw alimony and child support which of course does not cover all my bills. I'm still looking for a job but also trying to take care of my children. My property taxes are past due and my question is... is there any kind of help I can get to pay for it. If anyone can answer this for me I greatly appreciate it.

Owe property taxes
Good morning, I live in Racine, Wisconsin. I am 54 60 years old, on SSD, widow 4 almost 20 yrs (w/in 3 yrs of purchasing home). Owe approximately $20,000 back property tax, had agreement with former treasurer, paid accordingly (90% of time), & received letter before she retired saying agreement would continue. I Met with new Treasurer last year who stated amount of monthly agreement not enough after all & November, foreclosure was started. She has been very kind during these past months. Paid mortgage off recently & planned 2 add that amount ($280) to tax payment each month, however w/int & penalties, that amount just isn't enough. SSD check is 1270.00. With no husband or family to help, home in need of much, roof, tuck pointing, windows don't shut properly, etc. Any suggestions &/or referrals so as 2 not lose my home that you are able to share w/me will be greatly appreciated. (bank won't help-bad credit) I apologize regarding form of email...using cell, no computer yet. Thank you,

Re: help with property taxes
With all those requests you have made, you really should spend time on the main site of need help paying bills. The link is here. http://needhelppayingbills.com/index.html
We have thousands of charities, agencies, and non-profit programs listed. Focus in particular on the left side navigation bars. Spend some time on the site. We do have a property tax section too.

Re: Behind on property taxes as lost job
Yes, you can lose a home to foreclosure if you do not pay your taxes. Usually an assessor will allow payment plans, so something doesn't sound right there. How far behind on the taxes are you. Read about various tax programs and options, including installments, challenge assessments, and more. http://needhelppayingbills.com/html/how ... erty_.html
Also call your local community action agency.

Re: Desperately seeking help with property taxes
Here is a link that goes through different ways to get help with property taxes, including consultants, appeals, contest them yourself, etc. http://www.needhelppayingbills.com/html ... erty_.html You can usually negotiate and/or waive late fees, or enter into some type of property tax payment plan. Also on the main site, if you go to the left margin and state assistance programs, select Michigan and look for info on programs and agencies that can help with your tax issue. You can find programs specific to your county in Michigan.

Help with paying property taxes
How is it that property taxes on my home can go up over 10%, even though I think the price of my home and sales prices in my neighborhood are plummeting? I think I need to sue the assessor and county government. Is that an option for me?
