I live in Barrow County, Georgia. LIHEAP helps me every year on my gas bill sometime in December. I need help now if possible. My gas and power has been turned off for about a week now. It supposed to get hot in a few days and over 100 one day. Close to a sauna the other nights. I am a 68 year old senior citizen. I had an unexpected cost recently and could not pay it. It will cost $329.00 to have Jackson EMC to turn it back on. I just don't have it. If you could help I'd be eternally grateful. LHEAP will put $400 toward my electric bill in December. I don't think I can get it now for my gas. Please write back and let me know what to do or if you can help.

I now owe them a 2 month bill for my gas too. I have Center Point Energy for my gas bill. I do owe them a 2 month bill also. We have 3 people in our household and our monthly income from SSI AND VETERANS BENEFITS IS $816.
Since the gas is shut off, the emergency LIHEAP program may be an option for you. It is a faster applications process, but of course funds go quickly. Note some states allow the grants to pay a reconnect cost for gas - but it depends on where you live. Look here for emergency LIHEAP grants today.

My gas for heat was cut off a couple of months ago, and now, I have a letter from a lawyer telling us to LEAVE IMMEDIAETLY, even though we have lived here for 7 years and have not been late but once, and that was due to a Medicare screw up on my husband. He has never had to pay for it and they stole a lot of his money until I got a congressman involved, so then they paid it back!! We are BOTH DISABLED, and don't know where to turn fir the gas bill help! I suffer from severe panic attacks anyway, and IF I SLEEP, I wake up crying, trying to figure out where I can get a gun and just end all of this misery right now, because nobody cares!! I just received this information from my son school about this LIHEAP program for gas. My son and I have been homeless for over a year now. We're having a hard time because my job is not paying enough and my light and gas bill from my previous place is in collection and I'm paying the best way I can. I was checking to see if these programs help with utilities and my gas bills that are in collection that is preventing me from getting a place for my son and me to live.
Gas is almost 900.00 and paid 350.00 on it, my mom just passed away on August 31st, and lost that income and they are saying we have to pay for what she owed and we are eating crackers because we gave them all the money we have and they came today the 22nd to shut it off. I applied thru LIheap yesterday at the Romanian Community Center on Irving Park Rd in Chicago Illinois yesterday. My gas is turned off, I am unemployed, and brought in my electric bill, gas bill, letter of income assistance, and social security card. I have never applied for help ever in my life, and the assistant director put everything into her computer.
I was late to an appointment so after she gave me copy of printout I left in a hurry. After reading the information I saw that she had my Date of birth incorrect, my rent amount was $550, she put $950, and she put that my gas was connected, and my gas is disconnected. I feel she tried to sabotage my getting the help I need by entering wrong information! They were closed when I went back to the center yesterday evening.
Because of this wrong info, especially date of birth, and income/ rent amount, not sure if they will help me with my gas bill. Please email other programs to me. I have all info and documents necessary for help, and have never applied for help in my life.

I am just getting out of an abusive relationship and the lights are in his name because I have a 1600 gas bill that has to be paid off before I can transfer. Because of the light bill being in his name he keeps coming around and threatening to turn off the lights on me and my children. If I don’t talk to him yesterday he came over and spit on me. Also look into what is known as LIHEAP crisis, as that program may be able to assist as well. Sometimes people can get oil in as little as 48-72 business hours.

I couldn't pay the gas bill because it was almost $300 a month (that was my budget plan they put me on). It's 30 degrees outside and were freezing. I called the agencies in my county (Mahoning) to turn the gas back on and they said there's no money to help us. I'm 62 and my mother is 91.
That doesn't sound like a little help. That sounds like a lot. If you need money for the gas bill, try the community action agency in Connecticut. We can't assist, but that non-profit just may be able too. Or they will have referrals for you. Try them, and find information on Connecticut community action agencies.
Hello, I'm a single mother who lives in Mt. Airy, Philadelphia. I had my gas cut off on March 08, 2015. I called P.G.W. and they were no help. I spoke with them and they said if I pay the re-connection fee of $126.00, my service would be restored. After paying them the $126.00, they said they are unable to return the money and will not cut it on. I have tried contacting my state representative Cherelle Parker and Leanna Washington, but no help.
My 13 year Old came home from school and said "Mom, Can I take a shower?" I said, "No, sweaty the gas is still off". I just got the decision from P.U.C. that they can't help me. Now I'm and collections for $6,000.00. IF I pay them $3,000.00 I can get my gas on and get on a payment plan. I said my income is only $700.00 a month. I have went to all types of places to get help. To whom it may concern. I am 18 years old and I live at home with my mother who volunteers at the senior center in Desert Hot Springs, CA. I work at a restaurant in Palm springs and I am the only source of income. I hate to ask for help but my mom and I haven’t had any gas (no stove/oven or hot water) for about 10 years. I remember myself being in elementary school and my mom having to make the decision of either having gas or electricity. She chose electricity. I know it hurts my mothers pride to ask for help so I figured id take the initiative to ask for her. She doesn’t know I am reaching out for help but its come to the point where she is getting too old to take cold showers in this winter weather. So this is me, asking for any type if help if possible.
