Housing resources needed in Bergen County NJ

Post by Carolyn12 »

I have reached out to so many people and organizations for so long. I am on housing waiting lists. I just get passed off to another person or organization. I am a 56-year-old single mother. My ex-husband of 20 years walked out on my son and me and stopped paying for the house. My 13-year-old son and I were evicted this past October.
We have been living with my elderly aunt since, but we cannot stay much longer. I really need help. I am in litigation with my ex and hoping some money will come in. I work as a caregiver. I also took care of my sick father for over five years. I finally got Medicaid for him, and he is in a facility in Oakland, NJ.
I do not understand how my son and I cannot get any help anywhere. I have reached out to politicians who promised help, and nothing happened. When I email organizations, they just give me other email addresses, and they do the same.
In Bergen County, is there not one small apartment for my son and me? The towns we can be in are Mahwah, Ramsey, Wyckoff, Franklin Lakes, Allendale, Waldwick, Midland Park, Montvale, and Park Ridge.
I am begging—please help us. I am trying to get back on my feet.
Thank you,
Susan
