Dear Madam / Sir
My name is Geanina and I am a teacher who is about to experience homelessness without help from the American Red Cross. I need help in this transition. I am a US citizen, NC ID card holder, teacher in search of a teaching job as we speak. The fact is I was abroad teaching English and French for many years and just returned. I need support , please, in finding a house asap.
How do I apply for “Transition to community voucher”?
My income, as of right now, is $ 0.00. Or a voucher for a motel in NC USA.
Please guide me in this process! Thank you very much!

Re: American red cross homeless hotel vouchers needed
Hi Elaine,
The Red Cross may have vouchers, but they are generally for disasters and people impacted by them, such as a flood. But you can try, and we have details including on Red Cross emergency hotel vouchers as well as other charities listed.

American red cross homeless hotel vouchers needed
Hi, my name is Elaine. I've lived in Paoli, PA for the past 24 years and now my house was hit by a fire so that is why I am reaching out the the Red Cross for hotel rooms and voucher programs. Also sadly I received a notice in February that the house is going up for sale since the fire damaged it. I've been looking since then and still unable to find a place. I am on section 8 and have been in contact with my Housing Authority caseworker.
I have 17 days left to find a place which is not much time so I think a hotel voucher is best. I really need a little financial help, for gas for my car to be able to look for places, and possibly get a hotel/motel just for like a week or 2 and if possible. Also I need gift cards to like Wal-Mart so I can buy 2 blow up beds, a couple of sheets, pillows.
Unfortunately, I don't have the funds to do it myself. I'm 59 with Heart Disease and I'm on a very small SSI income of only $698 a month. I would be willing to pay back any financial help given to me each month by the American Red Cross for the hotel or motel; however, it would be a small amount each month. If you can help at the Red Cross or tell me where to go, I would be ever so grateful, if not I do understand. Sadly, time is of the essays.
Thank You
Sincerely,
Elaine
