Hey Ashley,
I am so sorry about your grandmother, and it is incredibly unfair that you're facing eviction while trying to do the right thing for her and your child.
Since you are at Bluegrass, go straight to your school's financial aid office or student services. Most community colleges have emergency fund grants specifically for students facing eviction or sudden financial cries that don't need to be paid back.
You should also look up the Kentucky Community Action Agency network. I found their site at https://www.capky.org/ for you. Keep pushing forward for your child and your classes. You are juggling a lot, but you can get through this.

My name is Ashley. I am facing eviction due to my grandmother passing away and I had to prepay a deposit for her funeral service. I am currently enrolled in Bluegrass community college. I am also in the process of getting my child back. If you could help with the balance of the funeral or anything that would be amazing. Thank you for your time.

Hi,
Try DHS in Kentucky. Generally the state will help the poor and those with no life insurance with funeral costs, or maybe cremate/offer the funeral for free. But if may not want to be a service you want but bare bones. Either way find DHS in Kentucky programs for funerals and other bills. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... tance.html

Anyone help in Kentucky with funeral home deposit?

Post by Earningsp »

I live in Morgan County Kentucky and my cousin died Monday. The family has a church that is going to do the awake and burial, but the funeral home has her and will not allow us to move her until we have the deposit of $1000.00 paid. The family has no way of paying this upfront for the funeral, and I have called everyone and anything I can think of and everyone says they don't have funds for something like this. Is there any way you can help me find someone to help us pay the funeral home deposit, please.
