Thousands of families turn every year to the Brazos Valley Community Action Agency, Inc. This non-profit, community action agency offers local residents several services and resources. They can provide grants that be used to pay immediate bills, and they have resources that can be used so people can become self sufficient over the long term. Montgomery County Emergency Assistance, Inc., which is located in Conroe, offers numerous assistance programs. The organization provides rent and mortgage assistance as funds are available. Money may also be used for utility bills. The county also provides a voucher for a new prescription, as well as run a food pantry. The Salvation Army may also be able to provide services to the entire Montgomery County region. The non-profit will also try to meet more basic needs as well, which can include free food, clothing closet, and a big focus is on Thanksgiving and Christmas assistance. Creative Outreach Ministries, which is located in the city of Conroe - Montgomery County and can be reached at (936) 441-5433 may be able to offer free food, clothing, and financial assistance. Interfaith of the Woodlands can offer services including a free food pantry, prescription drug assistance, rent/mortgage/utilities assistance, school supply assistance, clothing assistance through the "Hand Me Up Shop" resale shop, gasoline vouchers, and short-term transitional housing. Churches that are part of Catholic Charities operate in Montgomery County. Most of the support they provide is non-financial, and can include food, case management and legal aid. Social workers can advise immigrants and seniors in the region. Some struggling families, in particular senior citizens and those with young children, may qualify for electric bill assistance or other government grants. City of Conroe Texas and Montgomery County Emergency Assistance, Inc. – Other programs can provide assistance with electric, water, and gas bills as funds are available. Many programs are focused on seniors. Can also direct individuals to low income housing, such as section 8 vouchers, and other aid.
Society of Samaritans – The non-profit provides qualified residents of Montgomery County with used or new clothing, utility bill assistance, and furniture for a new home or apartment. Also offers prescription payment assistance to the low income, elderly and disabled in the community. Montgomery County Housing Authority provides affordable housing for low income families and qualified seniors. They can also refer income qualified residents to the section 8 housing voucher, rent assistance program. 1500 N. Frazier Suite 101, Conroe, Texas 77301, call 936-539-4984.
Lone Star Legal Aid offers free help and advice. Attorneys can assist with everything from preventing evictions and utility shut offs to addressing consumer debt issues and foreclosures. Texas Inter-Faith Housing Corporation and Management Corporation doesn't provide direct financial assistance, but they can offer some support to the income qualified who were evicted or that need a place to live. The organization will have some slightly below market rate apartments available. Emergency homeless prevention combines financial help as well as case management services. The goal is to both stop evictions from occurring across the county to also placing families (with children or not) into new, affordable apartments. Click more information.
Humble Ministries of Montgomery County supports only a limited portion of the county. The services from the faith based charity include prescription medication vouchers as well as emergency loans or financial aid for rent and other bills. Clothing closets - If you need clothes for your child, work, or maybe a job interview, several centers in the region may be able to help. Free gently used (or new) clothing items may be provider. Some centers may offer other services such as household products, appliances, and gifts/toys for Christmas. Read more.

The Brazos Valley Community Health Centers is an option for low income people. The facility strives to provide high quality health care, and to eliminate health disparities by offering quality primary and preventive health care to the uninsured and other medically under served residents of Brazos Valley and Montgomery County Texas. Individuals and families with no, or limited health insurance, can turn to the The Community Clinic for help. It is located in Oak Ridge North in South Montgomery County. The Community Clinic (phone number 281-364-7889) is a local, nonprofit healthcare center that was created to provide dental, medical, mental health and other social services to those who have no health insurance and if they do not meet other established criteria to receive medical care in another setting, such as governmental, state of Texas, or county assistance programs. The organization is funded by contributions and donations, and it is staffed by licensed physicians, dentists, nurses, dental assistants, dental hygienists, translators, social workers, and countless other support people who volunteer their time and services to run the Clinic and provide patients with top notch, free medical and dental services.
