Free food pantries in York County and Alfred Maine.

Churches, charities, and food pantries are available for the needy and low income in York County Maine. The centers focus on helping families who need help providing for themselves or their families. Hundreds of families turn to these free food bank centers as well as soup kitchens near them every month for short term support and more long term referrals. Find free food pantries below as well as a free referral number at the bottom of the page.

Groceries and free food can be offered for a defined period of time, but most centers do not offer support over the long term. What they may do instead is refer individuals to other government programs in Maine, like food stamps or WIC. These free charities often service holiday meals as well, including for Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas dinner.

Many families in York County who need support also need other items, such as clothing, winter coats or personal hygiene items. A pantry may be able to help with those needs, or refer an individual to a location that can help them. They often work closely with local clothing closets or thrift stores in southern Maine. There are also food programs from the community action in York County.
