Food banks in Wilmington and New Hanover County.

The Wilmington North Carolina region is supported by a number of food banks that provide groceries, clothing, meals, and free food to individuals who need assistance in the community. Many of the pantries in New Hanover County are operated by or located within local churches, however others are operated by local non-profit charity and government type organizations.

Some of the items distributed by the Wilmington and New Hanover County food banks include perishable items such as fruits, vegetables, and breads. Other sites will offer the clients applications to public aid, such as SNAP or USDA commodities. Or people can stop by for free, emergency food boxes. The hours of the centers, churches, and food pantries are limited, and unfortunately they usually do not have enough resources to help everyone in need.
