The Wilmington North Carolina region is supported by a number of food banks that provide groceries, clothing, meals, and free food to individuals who need assistance in the community. Many of the food banks are operated in or by local churches, however others are operated by local non-profit charity and government organizations.
Some of the items distributed by the Wilmington and New Hanover County food banks include perishable items such as fruits, vegetables, and breads or people can stop by for emergency food boxes. The hours of the centers, churches, and food pantries are limited, and unfortunately they usually do not have enough resources to help everyone in need.
