Health care for Washington uninsured patients.

Get information on resources in Washington that can provide health insurance or other assistance to the uninsured. The state works with a number of organizations, including non-profits, local clinics, and of course the federal government, in an effort to provide services to the disadvantaged.

In order to receive assistance, the applicant will need to meet certain conditions. These include income thresholds that are in place and coverage is also only available if you do not have private insurance and/or can’t access it on your own. A number of needs can be met and paid for, including standard medical bills, prescription medications, and regular checkups. Patients with pre-existing conditions may also be able to enroll in programs that are offered in Washington State.

The state will do its best to ensure that children and senior citizens receive the care they need. This can be offered from Medicaid, Medicare, or the resource known as Apple Health for Kids. In addition, if you are not found to be eligible for a certain service, then a referral may often be offered.

Aged, Blind, and Disabled Medical Programs can provide low cost health insurance to qualified individuals. There are really three different resources offered, and they include the Medically Needy program with no spend down, the more straightforward Categorically Needy Program, and lastly the Medically Needy with spend down. Depending on whether a spend down option is used or not, this will help determine how much the applicant will need to contribute towards they bills and premiums. Call 800-562-6078.

Apple Health for Kids is the state of Washington's SCHIP program. This is a national health care resource that is available in all states, and it is for children from low to more moderate income families. It can provide free or low-cost health insurance for qualified lower income children. A number of different needs can be met by CHIP, and much of it will depend on the funding put into place by the government for the year in question. 877-543-7669

Cervical, Breast and Colon Health screening is proactive approach to addressing these serious medical conditions. The state will provide free screening for colon cancer (men and women) as well as breast and cervical cancer (women only). Payment for a number of exams and care is offered. Health Coverage Tax Credit Gap Assistance is a bridge type service that provides coverage while people wait for Federal government HCTC approval. Over 70% of your premiums can be paid for in Washington, and it is offered for people who were displaced from their jobs if it was outsourced. It is short term aid and will only last for at most 3 months. 877-438-4838.

Workers with Disabilities, or HWD, is offered for the so called working disabled. It is usually a sliding fee scale, and beneficiaries will only need to pay what they can afford to based on their total household income. Applicants also need to currently be uninsured with no other resources available to them. Call 800-871-9275 for further details.

HIV Client Services goes by several different names, including Ryan White and ADAP etc. Various non-profit organizations provide medical services and general support to individuals living with HIV/AIDS. It coordinates using case management, the Early Intervention Program, and also Ryan White Care Services. 877-376-9316.

Medicare Savings Programs can help pay a seniors premiums, including their Medicare Parts A and B. Some of the components include QMB, SLMB, and QDWI. Deductibles, co-pays and coinsurance and cost-sharing expenses can also be covered by QMB. Medicare part B costs are paid by the SLMB program. 800-562-3022.

Receive free or affordable prescription drugs from MTGMEDS. Washington, medical providers, and non-profit foundations try to arrange affordable prescriptions for anyone who needs help. Work with a volunteer or professional case manager in finding and applying for various pharmaceutical company prescription assistance programs. These are offered directly by drug manufactures (including Pfizer and Merck), and they can provide for free or low-cost medicines for qualifying low income individuals. A number of qualifications will need to be met by applicants. The main number is 888-779-2527.

Washington PCIP, or the Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan, is health insurance coverage for those who can’t access private plans for any pre-existing conditions that they may have. PCIP can pay for a broad range of health benefits and medical expenses. Receive help paying for primary and specialty care and prescription drugs. Washington State may have free vaccines for uninsured children. Families will need to go to a local community clinic for these immunizations. A number of diseases and medical conditions can be addressed, and often some type of payment may be required by the patient. 360-236-3513

Washington Basic Health is when the state runs in partnership with private health plans and companies. Different plans are offered with unique benefits, fee structures and payments due. Telephone number is 800-660-9840.

Washington State Medicaid is quality health care services, and this aid is offered for eligible low-income residents. The state will try to assist pregnant women, low-income individuals, children, and families with children who currently lack health insurance or who are underinsured. Receive comprehensive public funded medical care, including, but not limited to, physicians, lab and x-ray services, and hospitals. This is the state’s version of the Medicaid program, and if your income is low enough assistance is offered at no cost for many services. Call 800-562-3022.
