Free clothes, furniture, and school supplies Stanislaus County.

Learn how low-income families and people with no money will get free clothes, personal or household stuff or furniture in Stanislaus County, including from charities or churches. There are clothing closets, furniture bank and back to school giveaways for supplies. Find free clothes or furniture near you in Modesto and Stanislaus County.

The types of stuff given out will vary based on donations. What may be provided includes, but is not limited too, the following.

  • Get free clothes for work or school, including uniforms, sneakers, coats, socks or vouchers for shopping. Migrants can also get free clothes.
  • Free furniture for a home or apartment in Stanislaus County ranges from appliances to couches, mattresses, beds, or even refrigerators or washing machine. Or get a free computer or laptop for work or school.
  • Back to school supply programs are available for students from grades K-12, including backpacks, Chromebooks, pens, pencils, sneakers and more.

Other free items are passed out too. Low-income families, migrant workers, seniors and single mothers (among others) are often given priority for free stuff from the clothing closets and furniture banks. But others can apply too, or look here for other resources such as free low-income birthday toy programs.

Family Resource Centers
There are several locations across Stanislaus County and the organizations provide help, including free clothes, winter gear, job training, applications to benefits and more. The centers provide clothes for work or a job interview, help seniors or kids get warm winter attire, participate in free school supply giveaways and more.

Inter-Faith Ministries

A free clothing closet is on site for people with ID. Get items such as gloves, hats, jeans, slacks, shirts, boots, under, socks and more. The charity distributes clothes to qualified people on site.

For people with appointments/approved, there is free personal and household stuff. Small furniture items (tables, sofas, utensils, linens, etc.) as well as clothes for work or school and food is offered.

Modesto Gospel Mission

The poor, immigrants, homeless and other will get free clothes. Bedding, towels, sleeping bags, and general year round clothes are offered to low-income and the working poor.

The Salvation Army
