St. Vincent de Paul assistance programs Duluth and St. Louis County Minnesota.

The main goal of Society of Saint Vincent de Paul in St. Louis County Minnesota is to show families that it cares about their needs and struggles. The charity tries to offer assistance for them in many areas of their lives, ranging from food to employment and homeless prevention, and all of the programs are funded by the thrift store in Duluth or nearby regions..

In order to receive any type of assistance from the agency, applicants must show proof of residency and have an income at or below certain thresholds. Many other conditions may also be in place for the SVDP based organization.

Free food, clothes, and supplies from SVDP in Duluth

Emergency food assistance as well as hot meals are offered at Society of Saint Vincent de Paul. It will last at most for up to a six month time period. The groceries are distributed monthly to those in need who meet eligibility. A soup kitchen may also serve hot meals year round as well as at the holidays, including Christmas and Thanksgiving and a clothing bank has household supplies or clothes for the low income.

Offering proper nutrition to clients is another goal of St. Louis County MN St. Vincent de Paul, however, it can only offer what has been given or donated to them. By asking the community in Minnesota and Wisconsin and organizations to conduct nutritious food drives, the non-profit may be able to help clients who are not eating healthy or that may even be obese. They also show families how to save money on their food bills.

Donations such as baby formula, fresh produce, whole grain pasta, multi-grain cereal, low sodium staples, fruits and other healthy products are greatly appreciated. Some participating stores are also donating surplus goods too.

Trained volunteers are available at Society of Saint Vincent to help financially struggling clients get back on their feet and maintain a stable home life through the case management process, which often requires a home visit by a SVDP volunteer. Clients work with their assigned volunteer to identify roadblocks to their financial stability while offering encouragement, assistance and accountability for their situation. At the end of this process and throughout it, an action plan is then established and the volunteer works to connect clients to various resources in the community to successfully complete this plan.

Stability and job training services

The priority is always given to clients utilizing the local federal funded Workforce Center. There are also job training opportunities at the thrift store.

Society of Saint Vincent de Paul St. Louis County Board of Trustees from the churches has established a new plan of action to help struggling individuals from the community achieve permanent financial independence. The agency offers a computer lab at churches and the thrift store to eligible individuals from the community especially after it was established that lack of access to a system is directly linked to lack of employment opportunities. So people from the community can meet with a staff member to work through any barriers to finding a decent paying job.
