Those with a financial crisis that is verifiable may look into free information from the Sedgwick County resource guide. There are referrals to local services in Sedgwick County. Most of the assistance is available from their Family Services division. It can provide those that qualify with a wide range of emergency financial for basic needs, free items, social services such as employment or drug rehab, shelter, and more. . Westar Energy bills can be paid by Project DESERVE. Get referrals to non-profits that work with the utility company to provide them with emergency cash grants and financial assistance to pay utility and heating bills from Westar Energy. The funds are for those that are age 60, residents that are severely disabled or the low income that meet certain federal government poverty guidelines.

Other forms of Financial Assistance can be paid out in an emergency. There are over 10 free senior dining centers in Wichita and Sedgwick County. Additional sites are in Augusta, Park City, Cheney, Clearwater, Derby, Halstead, Haysville, El Dorado, Mulvane, and Newton Kansas. He meal programs and food is funded under the Older Americans Act through the Central Plains Area Agency on Aging. Additional funds and grants used are from the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services.

Children and Youth Services are available. The parent, if they are working or in job training, can receive free day care for their child. The kids can also learn about services that are tailored for their meals.
