Richland County and Columbia SC transitional housing and low income accommodations.

Whether a resident is homeless or on the verge of eviction, temporary housing sites across Richland County can provide short term accommodations. This is also combined with other support in an effort to help the guest find and move into a more permanent home, and the leading agencies for information or placement are below.

Some of the organizations, such as Alston Wilkes Society, will focus on one group such as veterans. Other transitional housing programs are more widely available to families in the greater Columbia region. Almost all of the locations will not only provide a place to stay over the short term, but social workers will also offer self-sufficiency training as well as access to meals, clothing, and more. In addition to the free homeless shelters, low-income and transitional housing listed below, there is also section 8 South Carolina rent subsidized homes.

This agency will not take children, and is only for single people. Shelter and transitional housing is for the chronically homeless in the community. They also offer a day center, operate a food pantry and serve meals, and help client’s secure permanent housing in Richland County. Some of the units will also clients to stay for up to 2 years as well.

Emergency shelter is available along with free meals, laundry, and other facilities. Children, infants, and parents can enroll too. The charity agency offers the short term shelter and other ongoing supportive services to homeless families with children.

A focus is on veterans and well as the homeless, and the agency will help them gain employment and rebuild their lives as well. Child care is also arranged as well as other emergency shelter.
