Lorain County rent assistance.

Get help with paying rent and housing expenses from a number of different non-profit agencies, charities, churches and government programs in Lorain County Ohio. Programs can help with meeting housing needs such as security deposits, moving costs, and also provide emergency rent help. The places to apply to for assistance are below.

Many of the financial assistance programs administered are able to help people meet short term needs. In addition to providing funds and grants to qualified families and individuals, the Lorain County agencies will also provide information, guidance, and case management. There are even long term programs, including rent subsidied housing from section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers. As the primary goal is to help people become self-sufficient over the long term, so that they can get back on track with paying for their own housing and rent expenses.

The county and state of Ohio provide the Prevention, Retention, and Contingency program as well as cash assistance. Both of them may help with rent and housing costs, in an effort to stop homelessness. Lorain County HPRP is an eviction prevention program that has many parts, all of which assist with rent. Attorneys may offer free legal aid to stop evictions, there are motel vouchers, and grants for paying rental arrears or energy bills among other components. Both of the Salvation Army branches referenced above administer a number of assistance and social service programs for unemployed, low income, and poor Lorain County Ohio families. The first people in line to get help will be those with eviction notices.
