In an effort to reduce evictions, non-profit agencies in Polk County provide short term rent help to income qualified families. Resources in the region range from grants for senior citizens to no interest loans for working poor families with an income. Individuals that need to move or that are homeless can also apply for security deposit help as well as turn to a charity for funds for paying their first months rent.
No matter the situation, staff at these organizations will try to help the Polk County resident avoid homelessness. So they will assist them in applying for rental programs, or they may offer referrals to section 8 or other government programs. Other options in the county can include, but are not limited too, free legal aid to address tenant and landlord disputes, transitional housing, or federal grants for back rent.
