Nassau County Long Island has several places to turn to for free food and groceries. Food pantries, churches, and other charity agencies offer food assistance in an emergency, and can also provide help over the long term when an individual is going through a difficult period.
Tens of thousands of residents are served by the Nassau County food pantries. If you need help, you will not be turned away, regardless of your background or income. Many of the centers can also help people apply for other aid, such as SNAP food stamps, federal government food and commodity programs, and state of New York resources. A wide variety of products are offered by the food banks in Nassau County, including perishable and non-perishable items, meals, groceries, produce, frozen foods, and much more. Many locations can also provide clothing, household items, and other items, in addition to the free food.
