Montgomery County Pennsylvania Catholic Charities assistance programs.

If you need assistance then Catholic Charities may be able to help. The organization offers a number of services to qualified low income families, senior citizens, and people who are struggling. Most of the assistance is available from the Family Service Centers, which serve as the primary point of contact for the needy.

A number of Family Centers operate throughout Montgomery County and surrounding regions. Every one of these locations provides clients with an assessment of their needs. This will involve intake and interviews. Case managers from Catholic Charities, churches and partner organizations will help individuals access government benefits or emergency financial aid. This can include, but is not limited to, food from a pantry, clothing cupboards, rental or utility bill assistance. Many people can also qualify for housing referrals and general case management. Some of the self-sufficiency services in Montgomery Count include job placement assistance, ESL classes, and GED preparation.

Children from lower income families are supported as well. They may be able to qualify for after-school programs, help with homework, nutritious snacks, service learning opportunities and recreational activities. Many of the Catholic Charity programs for teens and children will try to promote leadership development and self-esteem. Counseling and assistance for pregnant teens is offered too.

Help for seniors is offered. This can include free nutritious lunches, financial workshops, and social and recreational activities. Volunteers and staff support the isolated, homebound elderly, and disabled. Various senior centers are in the region. People can stop by to enjoy hot meals, attend social and recreational events, art and music activities, spirituality programs, and even go on day trips. Seniors from the region will also be able to attend classes about health and nutrition, consumer issues, and computer usage, all free of charge. Apartments and housing for elderly are also available in the county. Catholic Social Services works with agency on aging offices to coordinate senior assistance.

Immigrants and refugees who are new to the Pennsylvania area can also benefit from translation services, legal counsel, and referral to other non-profit services and agencies in the community.

A number of other counseling and behavioral health services are available. For example, many Catholic Charity centers in Montgomery County Pennsylvania are licensed as community behavioral health care providers. They can help with issues such as post-partum depression, anger management, and bereavement support.

The charity will also partner with numerous other companies as well to organize workshops and training sessions. For example, centers may offer computer training courses, job skills training, and ESL classes. Some of the other workshops held, many with credit counselors, include sessions in home ownership, financial literacy, and budgeting.

Homeless services and eviction prevention is offered. The Family Service Centers work on helping  thousands of people stay in their homes or apartments by offering eviction prevention. For those that are homeless, you can get assistance in finding a hot meal and a safe place to stay in Montgomery County Pennsylvania. They have information on and work with a network of shelters and residences. While very limited, some funds for rental assistance may be available from time to time.

Low cost legal counseling services are offered for immigrants. Bi-lingual staff and case managers provide refugees and immigrants with low-cost assistance in document preparation, translation services, legal counsel and representation, and access to other applicable government aid and social services.

Catholic Charities will provide advocacy, training, and community outreach to newcomers. For example, legal services staff assist qualified clients with residency or citizenship issues to prepare and submit applications with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
