McLennan County food banks, soup kitchens and free pantries.

Low income families can get help from free food pantries in McLennan County. The centers, many of which are located at churches and charities in the region, help feed the hungry as well as working poor in the region. The charitable soup kitchens or food pantries near you are open limited hours and days of the week, but do their best to provide free groceries, referrals or food in a crisis. They do not want to turn anyone away. If needed, find a toll free referral number at the bottom of the page for more information.

The food banks not only have groceries or serve meals, but they provide other items. Based on donation levels, some of these Waco and McLennan County pantries may have the following.

-Soup kitchens are at sites and may serve hot meals, including at Christmas or Thanksgiving.
-Basic household supplies, including clothing, cleaning items, and free hygiene items.
-Centers also partner with Feeding America to provide applications to CAFB - Fresh Food for Families (FFFF), SNAP, WIC vouchers, and more.

Some of the locations are as noted below. Anyone seeking help can either drop in at a pantry (though hours are limited) or call for an appointment.

This non-profit is a source of referrals. Seniors, families with children and others can learn about mobile food pantries, SNAP food stamp application sites, and other programs.

They only help children, or single parents with kids. Food, referrals, clothing for work, or free school supplies are for McLennan County households with children under the age of 18. There are also applications for disability, SNAP food stamps, or USDA school lunch and breakfast program.
