The non-profit charity agency known as McLennan Benevolence Ministry helps struggling clients maintain their stability and independence. The goal is to provide short term help for solving challenging circumstances while directing individuals to the resources and services that can resolve the issues that threaten their self-sufficiency.
Individuals and families in need of either free or affordable food and other basic necessities can turn to the Ministry for help. Meals on Wheels is a service that delivers low cost, hot meals each weekday to the homes of individuals who are at least 60 years of age. Disabled individuals who are under the age of 60 also qualify for this McLennan Benevolence Ministry program if they are considered to be home bound and meet income limits.
The menu is varied, and the meals are nutritious and meet certain USDA requirements. Clients can choose between a hot or a fresh meal that can be reheated at a later time. So this means there may be frozen food provided in some cases. Meals on Wheels helps clients remain in their home and offers them daily contact with the trained volunteers who deliver them.
