Love Inc assistance programs for low income Genesee County families.

A non-profit charity organization known as Love Inc. operates in Genesee County Michigan. Dozens of churches partner with the organization in an effort to help the working poor, low income and less fortunate. Another key partner is the Greater Flint Council of Churches. While all of the resources are very limited, some examples of what may be offered includes clothing, food, referrals, and other support. Many requests will also need to be denied due to limitations.

The assistance programs from Love, Inc. are for low income and otherwise qualified Genesee County families and individuals that have a referral. That can be provided by churches, faith based organizations, or the Greater Flint Council of Churches. The main office number is 810-238-3691.

The demand for any type of help in Genesee County and Flint Michigan is very high. Volunteers or staff from the charity will take the callers name and number. If possible, applications may be taken over the phone, but the process may vary based on demand and available volunteers.

Any requests for assistance will need to go through an intake process. This is required in order to get groceries, free food, clothing, or personal hygiene items. Any requests for financial help, such as for rent or heating bills, need to have a State of Michigan Emergency Relief (SER) application submitted. This needs to be done with the Department of Human Services. The DHS needs to make a decision on that before Love, Inc. will even consider the application.

Any financial aid is also offered as a last resort. So applicants should have called other non-profits in Genesee County first. Examples include GCCARD, Salvation Army, Catholic Outreach and One Stop Job Centers. Many of those other non-profits may have government grants to assist low income families with bills. On the other hand, Love INC does not receive any government aid. They rely just on private donations, so funding is very limited and often runs out.

Donations are always appreciated and needed by the charity. This provides people a way to give back to the greater Flint community. People can help others as well. Clothing, food, groceries, or cash donations are appreciated. All funds will go back to help the less fortunate. For more information on how to contribute, call (810) 234-8891.
