The Kankakee County region is supported by a number of free food pantries, soup kitchens and emergency food banks near you. The organizations, most of which are run by non-profits or charities, work to feed the working poor, seniors, and vulnerable. They provide free or low cost food each day, personal hygiene supplies, help at Christmas, clothes (when available), hygiene supplies and other support. Many charities also operate soup kitchens for free hot meals, including at lunch or dinner.

Also, the type of assistance provided will vary. While almost all of the Kankakee County centers have food, groceries, or items such as baby formula, only a few have other basic needs such as the following.
